  1. I forgot about my sinking incident that I had years ago. Brother and I doing a late night run after arriving at the cottage, I hit a couple of moguls on the trail that happened to cause me to pin the throttle on one of them and I my sled ends up in a river beside the trail, front half is totally submerged, rear is partially in the water and on the shore. We tried to pull it out but just could not so went looking for some extra help/muscle at some cottages not too far away, by the time we returned my sled was out and there was a large group of guys that were there. They saw the tracks and then my sled but not the person...so they were looking for the rider and pulled sled out at the same time. Drained the water from the cylinders, replaced the spark plugs and she fired up....headed back to the cottage for the night. Changed the gear case oil as well and the next day we did a very big ride that day, sled was not running right for a little while, but by the end of the long day, she was running same as always. Changed the gear oil again when I got got home and I never had any issues with the sled afterwards.
  2. We ended up having to fish one of our buddies sleds out of the narrows ourselves one year using a rope & hook we bought from Robinsons.....local diver was busy that day attending a family function so we took matters into our own hands, thankfully he sank near the bridge crossing making it possible.
  3. x3......appreciated & enjoyed it, and great job carrying on with things! Look forward to seeing more reports and pictures from others.....but sadly I think that will be far and few....
  4. The MPP seemed to approach the issue very sensibly vs. a very closed mind. As the video ended it sounded like you could hear a sled in the back ground with a nice can on it too..... Yep, there are the folks that are doing this stuff, that are likely not advertising it and then the ones that are, are just doing it for the reaction.....hook, line and sinker As frustrating as it is, stopping either one is not an easy thing and try not to let it ruin your spirit.
  5. I was thinking the same......do not recall seeing any Yellow or Green in that neck of the woods and you need some really good coverage for many parts of the terrain in that region! You would think the Seguin would be open soon though. As for travelling outside your zone, you are encouraged not too, but that is about it.....cannot be stopped, just like flying to other parts of the world.... OFSC stated that trails will not be open or groomed between various coloured zones based on the covid restriction map.
  6. .......lol Yes, plenty of not so smart decisions we've all made at some point, and luckily still here to laugh about it. Everytime I ride by the narrows in Dorset I think to myself, how or why did I ever do that......than I remember the one guy (my brother) in the group that said if we happen to be in that area, he was doing it no matter what, so we made damn sure we made it there that day. Sure enough he went, than of course all of us followed as we had to all be "men" that day, good memories. Of course it was not one of those years where lost of the narrows were frozen over.....more like lots of it was not frozen over.....
  7. I was hoping at the age of 24 this was not in play.....this is really unfortunate for the kids & mother.
  8. Hopefully things turn for the better soon!
  9. And to think of the days in Sudbury when trailing was not needed.....
  10. I am not sure how Ins handles sleds that go through the water. Besides, retrieving a sled in 20 feet of water is not that bad.....some folks make some good money retrieving sleds for folks that have accidents. Plus there is the possible fine that you could receive as well. Thankfully they lived and it is a call for help vs. a new story bout another dead snowmobiler. This could be very true.....
  11. I am thinking for me it was a range from about 15 to maybe around 30ish that some not so smart choices were made that thankfully are now just stories you are able to share and laugh about......but I think most of us did (that of course get forgotten about or in simply in denial....), especially guys who actually have a chemical that is proven to be in your body that causes a boy to do stupid things.....
  12. Hmmm, belt driven oil pump.....sounds like a ingenious idea. I hope it does not catch on.... Some diesels now also use heating elements to warm the cold air for start up which if I am not mistaken replaces the glow plugs......but both still need to be "charged" before you start the engine. Just like gas engines, there is winter diesel that better handles the cold or extreme cold for easier start up......given how much more fuel pressure that a diesel runs, I would think it is even more of a factor for a diesel than a gasser. And there is a filter that separates the water from the diesel fuel......I imagine these become even more critical in the cold weather when trying to start a diesel in the cold & need to ensure you are keeping up with there service interval. I remember when Fiat first introduced there 1/2 ton diesel in NA and the biggest issue were the owners that lived in colder climates vs. the warmer ones.....I assume that has been resolved since they have been around for about 6 years now. How about some pictures of the new trailer that is being setup, since this thread is about trailer after all.
  13. x3. It is human nature to judge and be judged, try to avoid it as much as I can, and as I get older it seems even more so.....especially when I am not directly really affected by it, just a waste of breath/time. Regardless of his age, possible speed or possible impairment, condolences to those that are more directly affected by this. The writing is assumed to be on the wall, but it appears no one really knows the "truth" just yet...... "Investigators believe alcohol and excessive speed were contributing factors in the crash, police said."
  14. Merry Christmas as well. Enjoy time with family and stay safe.
  15. I know, right.....it is a non for profit association....
  16. LOL. this can be a true statement.....but could also be used for those that have no sense of reality, money is cheap these days, to borrow...
  17. Are you certain it was closed? I only ask because my dad who has a cottage on Parry Island implemented a check point to get across the bridge this past spring/summer, only allowed people that had passes to enter, but all you had to do was have the pass given to you as being an owner/resident on the island and off you went, which could have been left for you at the check point or given to you before crossing, but they seem to also only enforce the policy on the weekend. If in fact it was closed off 100%, I assume that also meant no one came and no one left as well seeing as that would only make sense.
  18. That is good, in for the long haul regardless I look at the $200.00 as well as a possible donation to a good cause.....if I was buying multiple permits though, that would be a harder pill to swallow I would think. BTW, I was being sarcastic about the return on the belt.
  19. There ya go, perfect for getting to the cottage 365 days a year. Anyone know what sort of price range they go for ?$?$?$
  20. Check the fine print, might be surprised about that belt if the year is a bust...
  21. There was a very popular company I think around parry sound making hover crafts...
  22. LOL....just might be a very quiet winter season on the forums this year.............
  23. Yep, sound weird for sure .....lol. Definitely not an unusual thing to see it happen. Out of the a group of about 7 of us that used to ride many times a year and had a great time doing it, I am likely the only one that still rides, albeit less that I used too, but still love the time on the sled, in the trails etc.....not loving anymore the drive to get to the riding though...... Enjoy whatever it is that brings you happiness, that can and will change!
  24. Agreed 100% that it is a very fine line and a double edge sword that he is navigating.... On one hand he is trying to curb the spread based on what is "best", listening to the various parties, various doctors, health specialists, hospital capacities (that is affecting other health needs), etc......, but understand that we as a society need to continue to live our lives, conduct business, etc...and as a Western society, we inherently do not agree with being told what to do, when or how, which under the Liberal regime has increased a fair amount the past decade. Some say too bad, suck it up, do not be selfish, look what people gave up in the past, etc.....let the government dictate what is best for YOU, but that is not the platform we live in now or in the past nor do I want to in the future, it is finding the happy medium and risk management given what is happening.
