  1. Pics ...can’t get pics to load. Poor signal
  2. Exactly. I just edited and added comments that explains it. Check it out when it’s been cold mid season. A great way to run lots of ice and stay off the trails.
  3. Yes we run Baptiste south to the stake line from where 180 runs close to lake. I stay on east side of shore to go south. You can also go further north but be very careful. The narrows has open water, also know locally as the ripples. If you go north stay to west side and look for trail that cuts up hill and jumps on Clark rd to cross over to elephant and Benoit. You can go north all the way up to E109. I hear there is a short portage trail around the ripples on the east side now but I haven’t found it yet. I just always take Clarke across. Good luck.
  4. We used to take the kids skiing there years ago. At the moment snow/trail conditions are much better east of there. I haven’t been in a number of years so..I’ll boldly suggest another option. Look up Madawaska lodge and call Stephan. You can ride over from Hali or drop in Birds Creek and ride up. Clean and reasonably priced. Family atmosphere...Very good food. Lots of loops to do from there. Spectacle Lake Lodge is also cool, w very good food. Wide smooth trails that are not too busy, especially midweek. Have fun wherever you go. Cheers.
  5. I’ll comment on morning mist as I’ve stayed there twice. Very nice cabins. Quiet, clean and reasonable. Owner went and bought supplies for us before we arrived which I gladly paid a little extra for. Top notch. If you’re looking for a bar and nightlife not likely what you want.
  6. Yes. Where B106E crosses 62 on east side of town. Just south off 62 is a place to park by the old train station. You can also go north on 127 about 10K to Linkies, Woods gas station. Lots of parking there, gas , etc.
  7. For sure Morning Mist is awesome. Stayed there a couple of times. Very nice cabins.
  8. Only on a sled could I get this close to a red wolf. Our Twp borders Algonquin and we see a lot of them. I’ve had an awesome encounter with a pair of timber wolves also but not on film.
  9. Thanks for the info. I’m not a Facebook guy. Seems every year there is an area that gets hammered by ice. I’ve seen it many times in our area around LSP Whitney and Madawaska.
  10. I always have my handle bar muffs packed on sled. Don’t always use them...but when it’s cold...(-20 or better) I’m glad I have them.
  11. Is Halfway Haven open this winter? I see the D trail is open limited south of Wawa to what looks like where halfway is located. How is current snow conditions from Searchmont north? I know it’s still closed. I’ve heard they have been getting some snow tho....cheers.
  12. Only on a sled...could I get as many miles deep in the mountains, in a single day.
  13. I have been saying this for years. Lic on snow machine becomes trail permit. No lic not legal anywhere impose fines. Would simplify enforcement. Revenue would go up big time for trail maintenance. The challenge would be getting revenue back in hands of clubs instead of the MTO. There will be those that oppose it...but I am for it 100%. Cheers.
  14. I looked at the map. I know Redstone pretty well, never been on Bitter. Looks like Piccadilly or Arnott lane will put you on the ice. Not sure if those roads/lanes are plowed or not. Can’t imagine you’ll have any trouble by the looks of it. Good luck.
