  1. Can anyone share some firsthand experience on conditions in KL. We rode from Elk Lake to Gogama yesterday. Snow levels were very thin. Some sections of trail were great, but some were really tough. We are supposed to go to Iroquois Falls via Cochrane today, then back down to Elk Lake tomorrow but with the warm forecast are thinking about turning back today to ensure we can make it back to the trucks. I’m just wondering if maybe we are on the fringe of where all the snow fell earlier in the week.
  2. Has anyone been to Auberge MacDonald Guest Inn recently? Not many options for next weekend, so it looks like we will be giving it a try. It looks like we may need to scratch down a couple sidewalks to get there. How is the sled access? Any other feedback?
  3. Can anyone recommend a spot near Kirkland Lake I could park 2 trucks and trailers at next weekend?

    Weather

We got about 5” of snow on Lake Nosbonsing, near North Bay.
  5. I was on Baptiste on the weekend. It was well travelled and in good shape. Fingers crossed that Haliburton Lake opens by next weekend. I am hoping to ride through the park on Friday or Saturday.
  6. Is the entire lake staked? The ITG is still showing the 181a section as red. If you head up the lake toward Elephant is the jumping off point for 180 obvious?
  7. I see that Haliburton Lake is still red. Is this due to the closures between PHU's, or is the lake not safe yet?
  8. I am heading to Lake St. Peter on Thursday. Hoping the trails will hold up for one last weekend. The optimistic side of me thinks that the trails have enough snow to hold up, but the sections that run along the road will be tough...
  9. I’ve been running the lake from close to where the island is South down to where the lake is staked. This area is good with lots of sled tracks. I haven’t been North of the island yet. I have seen tracks heading that way though...
  10. Any relation to the groomer being down and 179 turning red?
  11. I stopped at Lake St. Peter for fuel shortly after the accident. Feedback from those who came through said speed was a major factor. That being said, I couldn’t believe how many people couldn’t keep to their side of the trail. In addition, the lack of courtesy with regard to signalling riders behind you and the last in the group was brutal.
  12. Crispy, I will next time I am there, but in the meantime if there is someone on this forum that can help me I'd appreciate it.
  13. I'll be staying on Rangers Road. The cottage I'm at and the neighbouring properties can not directly access the lake. I can see the sleds going down the lake in front of us, I just can't get down onto the lake...
  14. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction on how I can get onto Baptiste Lake from the west side of the lake. Ideally I would like to hop onto the lake from Rangers Road or Jogi Road. I was up last year and could not find any public access points. I ended up running the roads and accessing the trail from South Baptiste Lake Road as I did not want to trespass without permission. Does anyone know of any access points, or does anyone on this forum have a property on the lake that you would be willing to give me permission to cut through a few times over the winter?
  15. My 7.5 x 16 will hold three sleds. It’s a bit of a pain to back one in, but usually I am only carrying two.
