Looks awesome to me.
We definetly need cold in our area before that - but I'd take that anyway - we're past the days of having it all - you take what you can get.
We are likely a month out from any real "riding" anyway - give it some more time ( fingers crossed )
It is really a monumental task/ask - but I also understand the reasoning.
I forgot to ask - and maybe it's in the other thread - but how long are these MOU's good for upon signing?
Is it an annual thing?
Hoping to have a traditional Canadian style winter for sure.
If I wanted it warm -I'd move to those kind of areas.
Winter is awesome when you decide to venture out and enjoy it!
I'm jaded and don't believe anyone cares anymore.
Does the local councilor really care if "tina's coffee shop" survives or doesn't? for every Tina's - a John's opens up anyway - the cycle continues
My own jaded view of course.
I've rattled the cage of my local counsellor on a few items and it's the same old story every time, it isn't worth my time anymore
Other than transferring to another sled mid season - what is the point?
I peel mine off every year and clean the area and you'd never know anything was stuck to the sled
No, and no, and will never happen.
They live where they live because they like the seasons and lifestyle. South of where they are, anywhere south, be it where I am, or the real "south" is not for them.
First bold - EPA regulations have ruined that ability
Second bold - not sure what you're paying - but insurance for how it is set-up in Ontario is still relatively cheap. The only way to reduce it would be to move away from the OAP set-up - but then all you are left with is liability and insurance on the unit itself - no first party injury benefits. Everyone here would say "i'm fine with that" - until you're not fine with it. The minute you get injured and realize you need treatment ( which OHIP rarely provides now ), you'll be bitching and moaning about not having that coverage. I see it EVERY single day.
Insurance is the necessary evil - you'll pay it and pay it and pay it, and hopefully never need it, but that one time you do - you'll be thankful for it.
In Ohio next weekend - exchange is not in my favor.
Don't see the same amount of good folks from south of the border enjoying the favorable exchange like you used to either. I assume they have decided if they want to see what the slums of Detroit look like, they'll just go to Detroit.
Because people are not smart enough to understand the consequences of those decisions, and because the majority that did vote for that garbage need the handouts.
The letter was attached to a thread.
Common theme was sleds have become way too expensive, given the short season, coupled with inflation, interest rates, less disposable income etc.
New sled prices have eclipsed what is actually sane. Only those who have more money than they know what to do with are buying. Anyone who lives modest with a budget in mind is not. It doesn’t make any fiscal sense.
Thanks for the link.
No doubt there is a connection between sledding and it providing necessary dollars into areas where it is depended upon. There is a lot to take away from that detail - but "can" is an important one. There is a big difference between "can" and "does".
Obviously, both are important when lobbying - but that is all with a grain of salt when you're on the handing out end of things.
I when I think of my current contribution to sledding as of today, it rests with the purchase of a permit, a few parts here and there ( retailer ) maybe some food that day ( restaurant/retail ) and some gas tax collected on my consumption. Its small.
My insurance bill goes straight to the ins. co and does nothing overall for the activity or stimulation of the Ontario economy.
