  1. And they made it. Damn.....lol
  2. It will be interesting to see what Polaris brings to market once they throw a turbo on their 4 stroke. I assume they will head for the 180-200hp league.
  3. I agree its a good option and no doubt why Doo put that package together. It was an answer to all the riders who cried when the 1200 went away. It was the best deal in a 4 stroke for years. Since I'm semi-seriously looking for my next sled, the 130hp turbo is a consideration as I was happy for several years with my 1200.
  4. A 900 Ace is a great motor. Its relatively cheap, quiet, smooth, stingy on fuel and has a top speed of 150kph. Its all anyone needs. Its just not what everyone wants....lol I'm not ready to drop down that far in performance just yet.
  5. True. My bud rode the wife's 900 Ace yesterday and he said "You know, this thing does everything you need it to. Its plenty fast for trail riding."
  6. Trails are closing up today. Hoping to ride out of Orangeville tomorrow. Anyone up that way today got a report?
  7. I agree, over the last 10 years I’ve seen several instances when St Clements could have opened trails or at least packed some trails but it took until 3-4 days after the snowfall to get the groomer out of the barn and by then we’d had high winds or a bit of rain or whatever. Seems like there is never a plan there until after the snow falls. Conestogo and Durham always seem like they are well prepared when an opportunity to open presents itself.
  8. I seen sleds come off the trail at the park in Elmira on Saturday. They headed through the new subdivision and I seen them again coming in the gas station. I pulled out the phone to check APP and sure enough Conestogo Lake was already open, so was Durham. I was over by Arthur this morning and the trail looked good from the road. I expected to see patchy mud. I'm planning to ride Wednesday somewhere.
  9. The difference in price between an X and a ADR is $450. The X comes with KYB-36's and a 10.25 Display. What other difference between the 2? And wouldn't the KYB-36's be rebuildable if I was looking for a bit better ride? Seems to me that $450 is worth it for the display alone.
  10. I did some reading and this seems to be the common theory on Dootalk. Its a combined problem between the tunnel/Heat Exchanger design and the 1.5 soft lug track. The tunnel has enough clearance for the track until it starts to ice up. Once it does the lugs on the 1.5 will start slapping on the ice build up which bends and eventually breaks the lugs from the track.
  11. Yep, I'm in Bloomingdale and it lit my place up pretty good.
  12. Ok, thunder and lightning in a snowstorm? This is a biggie.
  13. Snowing here now. Expecting 20-25 with wind. Should be a fun night for clearing sidewalks.
  14. Nice!!! Look at all the dealers that are long gone now. Gord's, Wheeler, Toko, Central Ontario. Martin's, Massel's and K-W Honda are still in business but haven't dealt with sleds in years.
  15. I agree, the Catalyst chassis has likely caught up with the other 2 manu's but its no game changer, its just going to be on par. They needed a 180 hp 2 stroke to put in it too. Or, had they come with stellar pricing like they did a few years ago, they may have pulled some buyers from Doo and Poo. If you wear Black/Green/purple leathers then you may see things differently.
  16. With my plan, my first choice was to order a Skidoo Renegade 900 Turbo R in either Enduro or X package. The Cat was a second or third choice depending on price and what colour an SRX came in. Right now, I think the Doo with similar or better gear would be cheaper than either Cat or Yam. That doesn't make sense considering the age of the Cat chassis and motor but I understand what has gone on in manufacturing.
  17. That was a good deal you got. I paid $9500 for a used 2010 Renegade 1200 X in the fall of 2010. Had to drive to NY to get it but everyone here wanted $12k plus. Canadian dollar was at par. I think it had 300 miles on it. I bought my 2015 ZR9000 for $11400 brand new in April of 2015 as a left over. They gave me $9k for the '14 ZR7000 as a traded in so I only paid tax on the difference. No brainer upgrade for me. I also priced ordering in a 2016 ZR9000 LTD at that time but it was $16500. I couldn't justify the QS3 shocks and metallic green paint for the extra $5000.
  18. Ya, I was disappointed to see the rice of a ZR9000. They have a Trail Blazer Package which gives you a medium height windshield, tunnel bag, handlebar bag and a proper front bumper for another $1100. I think the freight is another $850. That puts the TCat at $29400 and we don't have studs, descent carbides or taxes yet. I'm struggling with it all. I had set things up so I would be spring ordering my next sled this year. I was thinking that, at 58, it could very well be my last. But with only 300 kms this season, on a 2015 sled which now has 7000 kms, does it even make sense? I've been watching Marketplace and there are plenty of low mileage sleds showing up at reasonable prices in the last 2 weeks. I'm thinking there will be more before the end of the month. So I will wait. Maybe I will order, maybe I will buy slightly used, maybe I will stay with what I have. Its just had a full service, new sliders and carbides. See if I ride more next year than the past 5 years, because if I don't then I'm out. Only thing that will screw things more up is if Yamaha puts out an SRX in Black and Gold..........
  19. Calling for about 5cms of snow for K-W with 15mm of rain/freezing rain. But an hour north is supposed to get 10-15cms of snow with less than 5mm freezing rain. They would need all the snow in the forecast for the next week to have any hope of opening a trail. Unfortunately I think the water in the low areas will keep the trails closed. Maybe open the railbed from Shelburne up to Owen Sound at best. This weather should improve the Muskokas though.
  20. I've run those on my Cat for the last 5 years. No complaints.
  21. Let’s see. $1600 for preseason maintenance on 2 sleds, $900 for insurance, $400 for permits and $100 for fuel…. And I rode 300 kms….. I’d like to hold out and say maybe I’ll squeeze one more ride in but I find it works better in my head to just say “screw it, it’s done, and move on to other things.” Ive decide to keep my Cat for another year and see how next season pans out.
  22. Ledger Motorsports. Chris is very reasonable.
  23. Seen a post on Facebook from the Arthur Club that the trails were closed. Now I can’t find it. Edit found it, apparently there are 2 Arthur clubs…..lol Disregard.
  24. Rode from the house today. Maryhill across top of Elmira, through Conestogo Lake, Teviotdale, Mount Forest. Lunch at Homestead and the same way back home. The trail across the top of Elmira near Floradale is mostly plowed fields ( 20 kph or less type stuff unless your one of those stand up and pound it guys.). Trails seem better around Conestogo Lake but the bush sections are thin and bumpy. Some areas had a lot of drifted snow. Some areas are barely covered everywhere you go. Durham trails were probably the best but we just caught the bottom of those. Note that if you head to the Homesteader, the trail passed the golf course is closed for a logging operation. You have to run the roads to get to the restaurant. We ran the roads from the east side and they were snow covered. 300 kms. My forearms are killing me......lol Does anyone know why Arthur hasn't opened a single trail while everyone around them has?
