Is Yamaha still producing the 1049?   What do you mean by this statement?

The 998 is gone      Arctic Cat built less than 300 9000 Series sleds for MY26.     Yamaha is moving on from the 998 even in the SxS after this year.

30k - plus taxes?   Uhm, no way on this earth would I be doing that.

Yamaha had eps and it didn't really go any where. I didn't realize there was no patient on it. My guess it, it makes sled more complicated to build and they don't want to do some with eps and others without. I looked into what it would take to install it on a current 900. Very hard to do because steering post has to be cut to fit in power steering rack. Can be done if you throw enough dollars at it.
