  1. Note for anyone heading to Haliburton Forest: Both big groomers are down with mechanical issues. they hope parts in for one on Monday.
  2. So currently at Haliburton Forest. 180km today. Left base camp at 9am. Trails were decent. I definitely have ridden worse green trails in Ontario. North end is better than south. Carbides are likely beat up maybe pretty good. Oh well. I have another set!! I had scratchers down a lot on my sled. But not many others did. Tonight on way in all the main trails were down to bare ice as all the racers had the snow spun right off. still worth the day for sure. see what snow tonight brings.
  3. It was a local guy in Quebec I know that told me. Not sure who did the count but with no snow anywhere else rideable in Ontario and Quebec it’s feasible that there were a crap ton of sleds there. there is a lot of guys that could trailer there for a day also.
  4. With only 100 sleds allowed per day and 350 km open trails it should be a lot fewer sleds then Mt Valin. A friend from Quebec said there was 15,000 sleds in M t Valin area last weekend
  5. It’s amazing that Polaris has 6 or 7 dealers within about a hour drive of Orillia.
  6. What will price of gas be if the canyon loop opens after sitting a month with no snow?
  7. I think you’re missing the point on what was the base of the idea. And Dan will probably see more different trails and things in a smaller area in a 100km trip then most riders will see on a groomed trail in a week. Hell I have ridden with guys who watch nothing more then the 100 feet in front of them. And although riding for 400km have seen nothing but the groomed trail and snow flap in front of them.
  8. Interesting idea. Maybe even get to some back lakes for ice fishing.
  9. You can buy a 2022 XCR 850 with warranty into 2026 for less than $17,500. likely a 650:also
  10. Yes the decision to keep a sled is much easier when dealer offers you $12,000 on your year old $24,000 sled. It’s amazing how many guys thought the big money on trades was going to continue. i hear lots of walk a ways on snow checks this year.
  11. The smart dealers are already prepared for the slowdown and return to pre Covid. They good ones knew it was coming 8 or 9 months ago when snow check did not sell out. And dealers now will get creative on their ways to make money and how to shave / make points on financing.
  12. With 1.2 to 1.5 million people coming to Canada in 2023 and the strain / drain on our current infrastructure and housing I would not expect the power grid to magically get in any better condition to support an additional 1 million or whatever the number of electric cars anytime soon. Not only will we need infrastructure for new electric vehicles but also the added vehicles that the new immigrants will require and also the power and grid to supply the new homes to house all the new population. As our current government has not approved or started the process for new power plants or dams I would be guessing any switch to electric vehicles will not be possible Unless new electric vehicle technology greatly improves.
  13. Yeah I have seen far too often 3 or 4 stations that are grouped together at an intersection all magically get fuel all at the same time and all drop price.
  14. I guess the good news for this season is no stress finding ethanol free premium. It’s all got ethanol so any station will do
  15. We rode up there last year in 3rd week of January. I am not sure it it was new management or old but despite all of the hype I had read I thought we were treated and received fairly well by staff. No we could not get a hotdog as the fuel man was only employee there that day and he was busy running pump and cashing out guys. Food girl was on a supply run and not there yet. Coffee and hot chocolate was free that day I think And do not really care if it was $2 or more It was hot. I imagine some people might have been upset with the service But our group of 5 had no issues. And yes we spent a pile on gas Probably $500 for the group. But we had a blast on way up and down. And we needed the gas as a couple guys were right empty when we hit Cochrane
  16. If you buy the Quebec pass and keep the insurance portion will that portion cover you before your Ontario sled insurance? i have a QC permit and was wondering how a liability claim would work?

    Gloves.

Starting to consider heated gloves. I find when we stop my hands get cold then I am screwed for awhile after. What does everyone use? 200 gram back of hand and 100 gram front of hand.? Or do I need 300gram back and 200gram front? I really hate a thick padded glove that you can’t close around the bars.
  18. imagine if a part of the $43 billion in electric vehicle subsidies given to EV battery plants to buy jobs was actually invested in natural gas and oil pipelines into Quebec and the Maritimes? Our countries investment could earn revenue, eliminate imported dirty oil, provide natural gas to Quebec by more efficient pipeline over rail cars. But then the East Canada power families who are heavily invested in utilizing cheap dirty oil would have to make a little less.
  19. How many sledders would visit HH in a season? How many stay overnight?

    Permits

Don’t forget the gas and Baileys for mom and dad’s coffee in the stands! crap adds up quick when the moms start drinking

    Permits

I already purchased Ontario and am now looking at Quebec permit as I have 1 trip booked already and possibly more. I find it interesting how they openly show online where the permit money is allocated. Easy to find on the website. Insurance, magazine, clubs share, etc. Would openly showing how the OFSC permit money is allocated in the system help justify a little larger increase in price to the end user?
  22. Does that replace the 4 stroke as Yamaha deal done in 2025? Or a stop gap to fill out product line until AC develops their own 4s turbo? Will there be a 2 stroke turbo option released in time for 2025 early orders?
  23. When your adding your new car charging base station it will be easy to add the rest. Most likely all ex-Liberal cronies likely own the manufacturing plants for all this green gear!
  24. The snow checks did not sell out. And there will be a number of guys having to walk away from their orders this season.
