  1. I am down on Canal Lake. A bit of a pain at times to get to the trail. It was nice when trails came right to the lake. Its funny how clubs always say volunteers are in need and on this site there are 4 guys who have tried to offer some time to Carden Sno Drifters yet never have gotten any response to offers to help or been contacted or sent any work dates.
  2. I have a good friend with a place in South River looking to possibly ride with anyone on Thursday and or Friday in around South River or Sundridge. He has tried to join forum but having a technical issue. Anyone looking for riding partner In the area? Or within trailering distance? He will travel. i was going to be riding with him but work commitments changed for me.
  3. I used to ride the trail from the top of Head Lake up to Minden for lunch. It was a nice trail. But I expect too tough to groom on snowmobiles.
  4. I rode Carden trails on Friday and Saturday. It is sad that they have not groomed. The 101 trail is a road allowance with 3 ft drifts. No reason they could not groom it.
  5. This sport is doomed. Between the a-hos riding offtrail and the dickheads flying around trails on the wrong side and tearing the crap out of every corner and knoll it’s no wonder people feel it’s not safe to ride weekends. Today on the B104 guy almost hits me head on. He was third guy in a group of three who were overtaking a slower rider. I had passed the first 2 and saw a third sled coming around the blind corner ahead. I thought it was third sled in group as the others had hand signaled as they roosted by me. I was coming up and the third dickhead comes around on the inside of visible sled on the inside corner and right on my side and in my path. Need to carry something to throw at these asses as obviously giving the finger doesn’t do anything. Maybe my hatchet should be within reach. Or put they heavy duty front bumper and winch on my Titan and ride it in a more aggressive response. Make the frigers pay.
  6. Quebec is also open. Just follow the 8pm curfew rules. And no issues in trailside police checks. The Police Officers were great. Even clowned around with our group of 8 and posed for pictures cuffing the group leader for speeding. They did say we were going a little fast but no radar guns to verify so just slowdown a bit. 8 sleds, 7 with Ontario registration. No fines, no paperwork check. No cans either so no issues.
  7. Hell if I was a tow company I would park an old car on new ice close to shore and then make a killing pulling out the sunk cars. panicing people would pay lots to get a car out.
  8. Brand new in box front and rear Husky mudflaps Part #58171 and 57151 $75.00 for set.
  9. Guys were out fishing there 3 weeks ago. West side of islands is always open I thought. Even in good old cold years I remember crossing open water there.
  10. Perfect. Just need to be legal for QC when we can travel.
  11. Set of Polaris Hand guards and mounts for sale. Like new condition. Never used on machine. $75.00
  12. I am not sure if the wave hitting the end of the lake and bouncing back to break ice applies but years ago on a small lake out by Temiscaming we were ice fishing and one of the guys went a few hundred metres over to try another spot. Auger broke through very thin ice. We watched as he slowly drove his sled back towards us and the 6” we were standing on. There was a wave in front as we were all talking about it and watching. Wave dissipated as ice got thicker towards us. its really no different then leaving a fish hut out on the ice early in year. Or when snow drifts around a fish hut and water comes on top of ice around hut. Weight of hut sinks ice down. Similarly weight of sled sinks ice down.
  13. Changing a light bulb? Justin? Probably never had to experience that in same way as others. Maybe someone can teach him the method of testing for power where you stand on an aluminum ladder with one foot in bucket of water and put your finger in socket?

    Helmets.

Rode with my new Mission helmet Saturday. Love it. No fogging. Easily adjusted. No plug in all day Saturday.
  15. Those were great trails. What was the reason they were shutdown?
  16. The outbreak at Roberta Place was linked in the news to 2 individuals who work in the health field and live in Durham region who had a Un quarantined British Traveller in their home for a dinner party. There were a number of infections after that dinner / stay. The 2 were charged.
  17. Let’s see the results on contact tracing for the 3 or 4 flights from Haiti? How many were infected by these travellers and who is being held responsible for permitting them to cross health regions? charge those permitting this. Are they all essential travellers? Are they all Canadian citizens or landed immigrants? Give the regular citizens who are being made out to be criminals for going to the cottage or snowmobiling some answers. I am sure with all the data being collected the governments can provide some information.
  18. Justin Trudeau importing Covid patients into Canada so we have more positive tests and easier for his agenda to get through.
  19. It was yellow to the island before. I thought it would be weird to stake half a lake.
  20. Ahh WTF do you know! Don’t all hikers want to be roosted by some can running paddle tracked yahoo! I mean the video looks so cool! I wish the asshats would slow down not only when passing hikers and dog walkers but also when passing other sleds in opposite direction. Even on a straight stretch. Accidents are so quick to happen.
  21. The evolution of the snowmobile community might have exceeded the current Southern Ontario trail network. Faster bigger and better. And deeper! Look how many stand up riders pass you on a section of perfectly flat groomed trails in Southern Ontario with gas caddy’s on the back of a 155” tracked sled that can travel close to 200km per tank of fuel!
  22. I have tried over the years to volunteer with Carden. Never any response. I sent an email the other day asking if club existed and got back a yes they do and what do you want type response. There are 3 members on this site very close to or on Carden trails that would all volunteer some time and not one of them gets a response. And there is no email address to contact the club. Hope things improve.
  23. The saddest part of all these posts is we are witnessing the beginning of the demise of groomed trail riding. Not trying to be a nay sayer but until the snowmobile community as a whole becomes more responsible it will be in decline. trail riding is uncool. How many YouTube videos show a group riding a groomed trail for 8 hours straight without any big excitement? If your not doing a big jump in deep powder your not being viewed. Cans sell because loud is cool. Chopping a tunnel in Ontario and posting it on Facebook is cool. Adding saddlebags is only cool here on this site. The new crew of riders are only worried about there 3 minutes of fame and self gratification.
