  1. That will be excellent running. I spent a fair bit of time in the area Monday (first photo - excellent trail conditions, with marginal road sections) and also a couple of hours this morning (second photo - good remaining base after the warm up, with horrible road sections).
  2. Whereaboots? Saturday we were riding two-up around Gravenhurst, up D, out 44, 7, B, 3, Housey's Rapids area, and some back roads and old trails. Friday I was with two Polaris bandits. We went from Gravenhurst to Port Sydney for breakfast, then up some side trails and D to the Seguin, then Orrville, Petro Can, and down C, Lake Joe, Bass Lake Glen Orchard, Lake Muskoka.
  3. I headed up D for breakfast at Port Sydney this morning. It was minus 11, the trails were great, so I kept on riding. Orrville Bakery still has the best coffee in the area. No trouble stowing a small takeout bag in the back of the sled. On the return trip I encountered a northbound flock of sleds, one of which had NUNZ on the windshield. No pictures. Saw a guy sunning himself on Lake Joe. He said he had 12 inches of ice. I like the colour of this large cottage. I've used a similar colour myself in a few places. Gassed up at Campbell's Landing to avoid the bare pavement at the gas bar in Gravenhurst. Went back up D to Bracebridge before calling it a day. The trail is holding up well, but the road sections are deteriorating.
  4. 44 is a Happy Wanderers trail, which meets D at the boundary of Snowcrest and Sno-Bombers, beside Northgate Polaris (circled in red). The south kilometer or so was rerouted last year, and now follows Winhara Road. Not sure what happened to the old route (shown in purple). I agree there is no signage at the current intersection of D and 44. There is a 44 a little further north, where the trail leaves Winhara, but nobody would see it unless they knew to head up Winhara from D.
  5. Good report, Steve. Nice to get the lowdown.
  6. I did a similar run yesterday. All good.
  7. Where and when are you starting your ride?
  8. I can't comment on Lake Muskoka, but I would expect Ziska Road to be fine currently. Not sure when you're riding, or your exact destination.
  9. They were good early in the day. Snowed an inch overnight, and Orillia groomed the B East up to the Black River Road.
  10. She did indeed. It wasn't the only time.
  11. Took a spin today with Mr and Mrs Extreme600 from Summerland toward Orillia and back.
  12. Today it was nice to ride on some fresh Muskoka snow for a change. Should respond well to grooming with tonight's colder temperatures.
  13. Any reports of ice thickness? Many sled tracks? What is a good cruising speed on the lakes? (We were on LOB Thursday, but there were bumps and ruts, which limited our average cruising speed to about 60 kph).
  14. Would that fit on a 2015 Ram with 6.5 box? How long does it take to remove or install? I've been thinking of getting a Leer cap, but was leaning toward the taller ones. And my truck's a darker grey. But that's a nice looking cap.
  15. I won't see those nice trails until Monday.
  16. Before supplying coverage, at least one insurer (Monnex Meloche), asks whether the snowmobile has been modified.
  17. I rode that section of D101B today with BFB on our way from Port Sydney to Kearney. (Had lunch with Snowchopper at the Fork on the Trail !) The road was "ok" but not great - - covered with ice along both banks, with a skiff of fresh snow from today. I could hear my left ski hitting the road occasionally, in places where the ice strip was too narrow to accommodate both skis, but 99 percent of the time my skis were running on snowy ice. ...or...I may be thinking of one of the other roads we had to utilize today. In a nutshell, the road-running was tolerable.

    Good info, Sksman. Thank you.
  19. It's good to know your options. Shortcuts come in handy when trying to save time or avoid rough trails.
