There were some big swings in the areas that received the snow vs. places that did not receive all that much for sure.
-
Drove up to Parry Sound today and they sure did not get all that much snow - the drive up from North end of Barrie to just past Port Severn was nasty though. On the way back, a truck with a sled trailer was pointing North in the South bound lanes I think between Forbes and Horse Shoe Valley Rd - not sure what all happened or if it he lost his load/sled, but trailer was empty when we passed him & I think he was waiting for an opening in the traffic to get turned back around.

I’d actually be okay paying the premium for fuel to support that loop and business, and have several times, but some of the remarks I’ve read, heard and the general attitude from the owner/operator of base camp as of late is what has turned me away from my inclination to support them. Otherwise, as mentioned, it’s a nice ride to say you’ve done it, see the dam, canyon, explore off trail if that’s your cup of tea, etc…

Ya, that is pretty insane for sure! One week out from today is not looking very good for them either.
-
Looks to be to far south - port severn & Midland though might be getting hit, as well the Bruce.
-
Have some pictures you could share for anyone thinking about this option👍

The best time I’ve ever had going there was years ago when we headed off trail north through the power lines. Made it pretty far and honestly wouldn’t do it again now - younger and crazier. But if that’s your happy place, it definitely has that going for you. I remember the hydro one workers heading out too, I’m thinking for training, not sure, but it was amazing how well those utility sleds they had worked over that terrain.

I would install something to protect your tunnel, JMO though.. Unless maybe there is a ton of space between track & tunnel.
-
Good question! I would check base camp facebook page and PBR facebook page for info on that. With what they are charging for gas (last year), if I were in the area, not sure I would make the run unless I was with someone that has not done it.

Ya I know, but I sure ain’t gonna wish snow away…..can always make the snow work, can’t say the same the other way. Also not good for setting up that rink.

Negative nelly yes, depending where you are.... Get your sleds ready, going need some packers....unofficially of course.....lol
-
Or perhaps make it so no one has spare money to spend on these extra curricular activities.....lol

Yes our winters are a far cry from what they once were - just means you better count the days you have available to ride and take advantage of them.
-
It really is a tough call around Christmas on possible riding options - we will see how things play out. At least the weather is starting to go in the right direction.
-
Exciting yet anxious time of year. I guess the question is how far are you willing to possibly go and ride that time of year!

Thank you for the answers and taking the time. They do seem like a good option. - they are not obvious cameras - power requirements are solved via light fixture vs. running wires or battery powered - the fee thing was something that was not real clear, but you covered that - no fees if used simply as a live camera - I think having stored footage sounds good, but than would you spend time reviewing it or just review if something goes a miss -

I did some looking at these and have some questions for you id you do not mind. Do you need to pay for a membership for each camera you have to utilize all the features they offer, if so, what is the amount Where is the video of the camera stored - do you have options where you store the file I understand the light/switch needs to be on for the camera to work, but I assume the light only comes on if there is movement/motion, but is the camera always on regardless if the light is actually lit up It looks like you need a light socket that does not only point down based on the angle/view, otherwise all you see is the ground beneath the light/camera TYIA! -
Good advice ^^^^ - really cannot see prices going up, so waiting would be a prudent choice. Otherwise, welcome!!

I also have the same sled without the TX ski and the 1.5" IR track, I do not recall any darting issues last year at all - out of the box & some set up in the garage it had some pushing in the corners, but after some adjustment, that was resolved. I ran the Woodys 9600 series 6-inch carbides, normally I am shaper bar guy, that have always worked great for me, but wanted to try something new - I will be going back to a shaper bar this year, not because I was disappointed with the Woody, just want to see if there is a difference on this chassis/ski.

April must have been a great month for you, for so many reasons considering - great news on the positive outcome of a bad accident. What sort of a miracle happened in order for the prognosis to change? Enjoy the year, hopefully you can return to your pre-injury km's - looks like you were a high mile'r!

What cam's are you using - I am sure you posted in one of the other camera pic threads, but have not looked? -
Not ontario, but there are trails in QC same distance with no fuel or shelter, and they make it work….so I’m sure it’s doable, just might not be doable to ride for some.
-
Based on details In the thread just a few posts down, it seems there are questions surrounding what the plan will be and if sleds can make it without fuel.

Good, so it was not just me imagining all these messages…lol
