So many people foolishly assume that because there is a hydro line it's crown land and open to all. Farmer friend has transmission towers in his farm field where his cattle graze. Definitely private property.

For the towing and amount of driving you do the diesel is an easy choice to make. If I were in your shoes it would be a diesel. For the average person not so much.
-
the diesel fuel costs more plus the higher price of the diesel engine option in the purchase means you need to drive a lot to get a ROI or break even.
-
My 3.5 L 6 cyl with twin turbo has more hp and torque than my 5.4 l did. It also pulls much better. It has towed our 32 ft. 7,600 lb. 11.6 ft. high RV without any problems. You don't rocket away from a stop but what would.
-
If you're going to be towing a lot, especially heavy or driving a lot of km then diesel works out economically with the life span of the engine. For the average person occasionally pulling a boat, an RV or snowmobile trailer they aren't really financially viable.
-
You're possibly right but I wonder about it. The social media circulating about these violations are by and large on snowmobile club and related media. Are these landowners in perhaps the Bruce Peninsula or the Orangeville area really paying attention to the social media snowmobiling occurrences of a club in the Ottawa or Sudbury areas?
-
I would suggest the bigger concern for fuel is the width and height of the trailer, the shape of the front and the wind drag it creates. Our 22 ft. boat on a tandem axle trailer gives better fuel consumption than our 8' 6" wide hybrid snowmobile trailer. I chalk it up to the aerodynamics of the two. The bow of the boat deflects the air nicely. The boat also has an 8' 6" beam so the width is the same. The boat and trailer weigh in about twice what the sleds and trailer do. The difference in fuel consumption is significantly higher on the sled trailer.

If the consequences hit their wallet hard enough they will pay attention. How about the laws being adapted to similar as those for illegal hunting and fishing. Get caught by a game warden and they have the authority to impound everything used during the violation pending a judge's decision. Get caught on a closed trail or trespassing off trail and the sled is impounded. It could be many months before a judge decides if you get it back

I'm convinced... I'll try a pair of muffs this winter. I think I need to have a window on them though to see the control buttons. Being able to go to a lighter glove or mitt will be well worth it. As it is now the reverse button is protected. Being recessed I need to take my glove off to change in and out of reverse. The thumb of my mitts are to large to work with the recess.

I have used the covers in the past... they ARE NOT covers you would want to use for trailering on an open trailer or likely a sled that lives outdoors but they are great for storage,
-
I specifically asked about that and was told I am covered. It is legal to ride on the ice. The only scenario they told me that I would not be covered is if I was riding somewhere I was not allowed to. Such things as trespassing or on roads where snowmobiles are not legally allowed. i.e. If I decided to ride up the side of hwy 400 I would be out of luck
-
That's not what they told me.... I am covered essentially anywhere it is legal to ride a snowmobile. If a municipality allows a sled on the road I am covered. If I am breaking the law then I am not. Pretty much the same as if you drive your car / truck on a road that has been closed by the police then no coverage.

Yeah the trailer was about 4 or 5 years ago and the breakin about 10. Also had a comprehensive claim on my truck 3 years ago and the service was great.
-
I guess it depends on the nature of the claim. I had my trailer replaced and the premiums didn't change. My experience has been the total opposite. They even waived my deductible on the sled trailer mentioned above. We were broken into at home once and they were at our home the next day. They cut me a cheque for $5000.00 on the spot and told me to keep receipts and if I was getting close to running out with more to replace call them and they would deliver another cheque. I've had nothing but great service from them over the years.

Ours for liability and comprehensive with TD are $294.32 each per year plus HST.

don't give up on Sprucedale yet... new owner may see it operating properly and profitably
-
I'm always willing to give new owners a try. Hopefully they will be more successful. Even if things aren't ideal on the first time with the new owners I will usually come back one more time chalking it up to a learning curve.

It can be really tough for some of these small places in remote locations to make a enough to stay in business.
-
We tend to go to the little place across the road. The last time I was in the hotel I ordered chili. It came luke warm and then found it still had a frozen lump in the middle. One of the people in our party of 6... they forgot to bring his order completely but brought all of our bills a minute or two after serving our food.
-
Great news. The last time I was there was less than stellar. I asked about the on site restaurant and was told yes... got there and it was closed. TV wasn't working and there was nothing they could do since maintenance had left for the day. Promised it would be fixed while we were out riding. It wasn't and maintenance again wasn't available. No matter how hard you try things will go wrong. When that happens make it right. I'll be there this winter to support the new owners that support us.

For that new Yamaha you ordered?

I'm out. Sledjunk, Slomo and Nunz are buying my sleds.

I'm not that gullible on April 1 -
I didn't take it that way... Despite the very best efforts of the volunteers and groomer operators, especially on Family day weekend you are going to run into some less than ideal trail conditions. There's a multitude of reasons why a trail can be rough, high levels of traffic, out of service groomer and just too many trails to do them all every day.
-
We were on it yesterday. My back is feeling it today. The top speed from Bala to 17 was about 20 kph. Lots of traffic, groomers can't be everywhere, so many possible reasons.

Around sprucedale and Kearney seem to be some of the only Muskoka area trails
