  1. I was wondering if the trail crossed the river in multiple areas. Ski
  2. And this is from the day after, same source. Ski Volunteers Brad and Pat were the first ones across the Frederickhouse River on the TOP A! They started flooding work today. Thanks guys! For the lastest trail status information be sure to check the ITG at ofsc.evtrails.com
  3. Oh yeah? Please stop posting this stuff. From the polar bear riders club via facebook five days ago... Wow, the Frederickhouse River froze early this year! Who wants to walk across first. The things we volunteers do for snowmobiling! For the lastest trail status information be sure to check the ITG at ofsc.evtrails.com
  4. With 2 to 3 days of warm up, and forecasted rain... that may help, or hurt. Time will tell. My bet is there wont be a lot of places with limited trails by Christmas/New Years weeks. Ski
  5. Figured I would post a pic before the 3 day warm up and rain. River looks tight, that probably will change. Patrick Bouchard and his group of volunteers have been working hard to sign, clean, cut the big trees from our windstorm on the whole system prior to the groomer going out. They have done an awesome job. Hoping we get the funding for a re-route away from rd12 towards White River to avoid more road use issues. If you look, the town streets are now so heavily sanded, unless you time it right, it may be an issue for sleds. Ski
  6. Looks like a decent amount of snow there. how far out of town were you? Nice job Dan! Ski
  7. Forecast looks like no above freezing temps for the near future. No real big snows forecast but, that can change, with the big lake machine. Hwy was closed last night. We got a bit more. It's a start. Maybe riding by Christmas. Town looks peaceful, decked out in fresh snow. Ski
  8. River is almost completely frozen. Starting to look like winter. Ski
  9. River is almost frozen in town, this morning. It is coming. Ski
  10. Figured I would get this started. A bit late, forgive me, I have been fighting covid for almost a week. It looked a lot more like winter in Dub over the weekend. Warmer temps melted it all. Guessing that may be a reoccurring thing, over the course of this season. Enjoy! Ski
  11. You know you would be sad, If you didnt come visit us at least once. Ski
  12. 17 was closed from Wawa to Batchawana Bay from 1am, to about 11am. I was right there when they opened, I was going to go 101 to 129 and south, if 17 wasn't open when I got there. I lucked out, and ended up first out of town. Never saw an oncoming auto until south of Montreal habour. Here are a few pics from Crescent lake, the top of Montreal harbour, area. The last pic is Heyden, just out of the Soo. There was an honest foot near Crescent. But, a few miles north or south and there was little to zero, until you got close to Goulais. For reference, the no snow area is at Pancake bay. Very small squall bands off the lake. Was sunny, dry, bluebird days, the last 2 days in Dub. Ski
  13. Again... Spewing crap he knows less than anyone about. Sad really. Ski
  14. Paging @AC+YA He will know your mileages for sure. Ski
  15. A lot of times I see these for sale for less than 150.00, used where people are selling, getting out, didnt use it enough. I would like to find one of these. Ski
  16. Yeah, for a grand, I will use the independent dolly wheels. even the harbor freight (think princess auto) furniture moving dollies are acceptable at 20.00 per dolly. dont get me wrong, this is a nice product but, it isnt worth 1000.00 to me. Ski
  17. We received our 2 permits today. Ski
  18. I believe the rough grading is done from the warm up shack on the big overlook hill, to the Warm up shack near the halfway point at the Kabi river, from Dub. It will need to be signed, and final brush, trim, groom etc... It should be good to go from dub north, for season. The west route has a lot of logging close to Dub (rd12) and the loggers say they will play nice, then tell us no, and dig up the groomed trail. Mostly because sledders ride the road instead of the trail. So, we are our own worst enemy. There are beaver, water issues at near, and west of Hammer Lake (Fishing Moose Lodge), to White River. there is no White River club, only the Marathon people, and the Fishing Moose couple. Marathon has a lot of trail, and have worked and connected to Manitouwadge but, with all that, White River east to Dub doesnt get the attention it needs to be a stellar trail, due to budget, manpower, and time. Hope this helps. Ski
  19. I believe, the only thing that runs is, the Algoma Train Tour, not sure they do it in the winter as the "snow train" any longer. I know they do leaf watching tours in the fall. But, they only go to the canyon near Montreal river area and turn back to the soo. To answer your question, the ACR has been closed and opened and closed, and no, they do not go to hearst with passengers from the soo area now. They are in the process of "dismantling it". There are a lot of bridges north of the canyon. The one that seems to be the nail in the coffin, is all the tracks running in, and by Oba lake (their is a pier like system on the east side of the lake, running quite a bit of the waters length. From what I gather, before the final closure, the bridge/pilon's on Oba Lake and the creek/river north of Oba Lake, were in a dangerous state of repair for freight, and they had to significantly slow the trains down to cross there. All the people that had camp access via the acr from the soo north, have no access, via the railway now. Due to the limited access now, the MNR actually just this year, stated people that owned camps on Oba Lake, and their immediate family, could access the lake if possible via the road (simpson) which was a big no, no, due to the MNR protecting the remote tourism outfitters, operations. times they are a changing. Ski
  20. And now after thinking about it. The spur in the mill yard hooks to the ACR, that goes out to Franz Station just northeast of town. There is a junction/crossing at the CP rail, at Franz. They took that cross/switch out last year. Ski
  21. From the Googles, CP runs from Thunder Bay (and further west) to Sudbury, (and further east) but, does not come through Dub proper. CN runs from Winnipeg, to Sudbury but, never gets closer than Hornepayne (Oba) to us. with a possible section from Oba, to Hearst. Ski
  22. CP/CN freight rails are open, not sure they run to hearst from us. The ACR from Algoma Canyon north, is no longer viable. Many trestles, are unsafe for train traffic. A few locals are running the acr from dub, to points north and south. There is/was a spur in the mill yard, not sure if that hooked to the acr, or cp/cn. Ski
