  1. Happens there regularly on or near weekends. Supply/Demand. Ski
  2. We might have had 2 feet around Dub, way more south of Wawa but, It was 40 and raining, when we went through the Soo last night at 7pm. Need to make it through tomorrow, and get more snow, and lower temps to hold on to what is there. Heading back up in just over a week, for the time change week. Ski
  3. Thank you for the update WB. Glad your scans are zero at this point. I lost both of my folks to this nasty thing before I was 30 years of age. I was able to spend time with my mom but, as you stated, I didnt know how to with my dad, and that haunts me. I couldnt bring myself to see what this illness was doing to my super hero. Now having my place in the north that he said "we would always have" and he was never able to achieve, or see, or even see his grand child or now her giving him great grand children, leaves me very conflicted. Each incredible sunset I see here, or days on the water fishing we couldnt enjoy together, gives me pause to think about the man and woman, who gave me my chance at a great life. You are right, we need to support them, they know the struggle, we only know the win or the loss, depending on the outcome. I wish you luck my friend! Eric
  4. Beauty of a day out there. Arrived last night, first time since Jan 7th for a shovel. It was a workout to get the house and barn opened up. Lots of snow from the Soo up! Had our propane delivery this morning. We should be good until April 1st or so. Get up here and ride! Ski
  5. Now we're cookin with gas. Top trails are open from the Soo, all the way north and west to Marathon and Manitouwadge, and all the way to the Hearst and Northern Corridor. There is a red section or two between Chapleau and Timmins, to fully connect the Big Loop. Keep an eye on the ITG for further updates. Ski
  6. I wish I never sold my 2002 MxzX440 race sled in the zx chassis. I had it stretched to 136 with a 1.25" track no studs. If I would have thrown a 700 twin in that, I probably would still have it. It was a fun light sled and had plenty of tight trail power. Just light on power for the Northern Corridor stuff. I LOVED my 2001 SRX. I ended up stretching that to 136, and when it was over, it had a 2" mountain track on it. In trail trim, with the holzman tempaflo on it, if I wasnt into the fun flipper and just cruising, I could get close to 20 mpg's. That was pretty impressive for the time. Ski
  7. I received a text from Jeremy at the fishing moose lodge last night, he was going to take the bully with no drag, to pack from there to the Dubreuilville limits today, and if all went well, he would take the drag the next day. There has been 1 pass on the D trail from White River to FIshing Moose. I saw the itg has the d108a limited from dub to hwy 11 now. There was a sled accident that closed the trail near the old Bambino's truck stop near 631/hwy11 yesterday. I did not hear what happened. Things are starting to open up. Now we need people to ride and frequent the businesses that help make this happen. Good to see you check in @matt17 It's been a minuite since we shared a trail, and some fishing. I hope things are going well in Wawa for you all! Ski
  8. Snow is adding up, more yellows and greens showing up around Wawa, Dub, Hornepayne. It is looking like we are almost connected north and south, we just need to connect west and we will be whole. Unfortunately there isnt much help from White River to Dub. We have one bridge that cant be crossed with a groomer, and really only Jeremy and Cynthia at the fishing moose lodge are the only ones working on that trail. They really need some help and support. We may head up to shovel out, and get a ride in, later in the week. Ski
  9. Thank you for coming back, and following up on this. Glad it worked out for you, and the new Doo. Ski
  10. Highway 17 has been closed from Soo to White River almost everyday this week. Inland we didn't get enough to write home about. Club is brushing, packing, signing, and even grooming local stuff, to gauge when and how far to go to connect other communities. I heard they groomed to the Kabi river, where we meet Hornepayne but, haven't confirmed it, and not showing on the itg yet. Wawa has land use permit issues, ice issues on Wawa lake, and snow depth issues, to fully connect their systems, from what I have heard, saw. We have a big system coming from the south, along with 60-80kph winds. The road will close for sure. I will keep an eye on cams and report back, later in das week. Ski
  11. Didnt you know, Trump ended global warming his first day in office... massive snows in the southern U.S from Texas to Florida. LMAO! Ski
  12. Be aware, we are almost straight west of there, and our weather and temp forecast is very different. I hope this doesnt make it to you and hurt much. Ski https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/53966aa21a5ca4b3c857c1f21a2f36db567ca73bcc7f5b436ce1958720de03d6
  13. Ah, I thought you misinterpreted what I typed, and was trying to re-write it for better verbage. I misinterpreted what you typed. I needed the "sarcasm" sign Leonard gives Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory. :D Ski
  14. I wasnt disagreeing with you, I was pointing out, some people from the states still dont have their permits yet. Has the postal strike completely ended on your side yet? I know at one point they were forced back to work around new years start but, stated they wouldnt be servicing the states at that point. Ski
  15. That was the point I was making. With almost nonexistent permit enforcement, we are doomed, to having many people ride knowing there is a good chance, they wont be caught. This needs to change. I too am a land owner that allows the ofsc trail on my property. I too volunteer with the club, I have my certificates for groomer operator but, havent had the on equipment training yet. Ski
  16. Due the postal strike, I know people from the states, who havent received their early bird permits yet. Ski
  17. Permit enforcement is going to haunt us. Non-hardcore or "real sledders" are not buying preseason savings passes, to see if we get rideable, groomable snow. When we dont, they saved money, when we do, depending on if it is early or late, they may roll the dice, and ride dirty (no permit). This hurts the all in sledders, volunteers, the clubs, districts, and finally the ofsc. Ski
  18. Very sad indeed. Thank you @revrnd for coming back to honor him, and update us. I have talked to him via chats on here, going over conditions a few times, I believe we met at the Novi show with Sledjunk once as well. These forums gave us friends, and helped us live vicariously through one another's adventures. It is sad we are losing our friends as we age. I hope the trails are smooth, and the wind is in your face my friend. You can now head out for a rip with Sledjunk, and beat us all to the fresh snow, and freshly groomed trails of the far north. Eric
  19. Colder yet today. check out the feels like temp. Ski
  20. Not sure how it is on your side of the border but, over here, if it is written off as a flood, water intrusion issue, the insured is not allowed to retain the salvage. This protects people down the road from unknowingly purchasing a flooded vehicle. The title is branded as scrap, or parts only, and is not rebuildable at all. Ski
  21. Weekend update. Ccccccold for the foreseeable future, our areas need a bit more snow to go. Sorry it isnt a better report. Ski
  22. You are pretty close PLC. Each insurance company is different and has different thresholds. In the states, some insurance providers start thinking about total loss settlements when the first estimate is 65% of actual cash value. Others dont want to total anything, and will go to 90 or more percent. The average seems to be around the 70-75% zone. They know the first estimate is just that, and it will only go up from there. Having a high first estimate of repair, goes a long way to get the adjuster to thinking, maybe I should not fix this.. Cost of repair, cost of supplements, missed items, extra repairs after "completed" and problems after the repair down the road, all factor into their decision. When borderline total loss, many adjusters wont want to be "married" to a vehicle long term, and will "push it over the edge" into total loss land. 30 years in the collision repair industry, the last 15 as an insurance adjuster. Ski
  23. Well, for one, glad you didnt get hurt. Clear water, you could argue that it would be fine... Bullrush's, cat tails, swamp type water, mud, loon shit etc... Not a fricken chance you want it back. Most insurance companies have a "flood clause" for vehicles... If sunk, swamped, or driven in water, and the water exceeds the height of the electronics, and or engine, it is branded a flood vehicle, and automatic total loss, no chance for a rebuilt title/salvage title. The U.S. did this after hurricane Sandy, in the northeast, when thousands of cars were totaled, dried out, sent to the middle of the country and sold, with "clean" titles, then all the problems started to surface to the new owners. Dont get in a panic, until you speak with your insurance adjuster. If they are leaning toward fixing it, explain that the water got in everything, show them pics of the situation, hopefully enough evidence for them not to want to "own" this vehicle for the rest of their career. Water/moisture, corrosion and electrical gremlins can plague older sleds under normal conditions so, why start out with a known issue? If you are calm, and explain the situation, and ask what they are thinking, it will go a long way. Act like a jerk, and start demanding stuff, before you heard, know, what they are thinking, you could be in for a long hard fight. Good luck, please come back and give us an update, it may help other members down the trail. Thank you in advance. Ski
  24. You havent been there in a bit, the Resto you are thinking about with the bar and apartments upstairs, has been long demolished. The newer portion of the motel in the other building, is still there, owned by several members of the Dubreuil and Bouchard family. This "pub" I am speaking of is in the main grocery store, hardware store, post office, pub, car wash, building kitty corner from the church. The pub has gone through several owners in the just the last 10 years we have owned our place. Patrice is still "involved" in the motel but, less and less, and is living retired life with is wife and children in Sudbury. Ski
