Hopefully the past couple years are a wake up to call to everyone to see that the More On Snow funding model isn't working, neither is the amount of decision making clout that was given to the board by the membership.
There's something not right about a club busting their ass volunteering to have awesome trails and top notch equip, and save a ton of money doing it. When a neighboring club does the bare minimum and calls in a heavy equip service company to swap out a broken mirror but still gets funded the same.
Nope, there's no dividing the pot equally, the only thing equal is that every district gets the same amount per km and grooming hour. The burden is that resources outside of the trail km and groomer allotments have to be stretched further. There is other costs involved then just signage and grooming that come out of the district infrastructure funds, culverts and bridging, equip wear and tare and maintenance. All the Dist Govs from each district had to make this decision based on less money over all for all districts and clubs, as the provincial bottom line has to be spread further. The big question is did loosing these trails effect permit sales locally and over all provincially ? Will the area sell enough permits and attract enough volunteers to support the operation of these trails now ?
Honestly when looking at the provincial map, do you think many riders from other districts really care if those trails were reinstated, let alone lose a little funding for that to happen ?
