All work above is part of brp pre season service. You can't pick and choose what you want done. Only thing was extra relay I asked for, to have a spare. X amount for service then parts and extra labour. I asked to change battery too. Tractors they have service packages too. I often take in a tractor that has no mower deck. They charge me to service deck which doesn't exist because it's in package. No blades to sharpen, no mower to grease or adjust height etc. surely they should credit something back but they don't. It's way dealers work now. Smaller dealers you use to be able to pick and choose what you wanted done. Just pay for time and parts simple 👌

So, let me try to follow this train of thought of yours, not 100% sure I have this correct though. $1,200.00 for oil change and battery, which is "all you had done". Usually a "check this" and "check that" would be a pre-service as well, that you have had to asked for - that is not free. Then we have cleaning supplies included somehow and a relay for reverse, which makes me think some more work was done, like cleaning clutch like you have also mentioned and I guess your reverse was not working perhaps. Then I see chain case as well thrown in there, so another service, again is not free or is the synthetic oil.   Sounds like we have: oil change & filter service reverse with a new relay clean clutches chain case oil change maybe one more item if you look at the service ticket   Labour for technicians is not cheap, I am sure north of $100 these days....so that adds up fast - most of these items a mechanically inclined person could do as well if so inclined to do so, cutting that bill easily in half, so if half your day worth $600'ish dollars to you.   I agree with PLC as well - a 4-stroke is only costing you more on the oil change, all other parts are the same on both sleds.....2-stroke oil is pretty pricy these days and the depreciation on a 2-stroke will be greater than a 4-stroke. 2-stroke would normally be considered for weight reasons, not sure about service items.

Wasn't about money just easier to add oil and not worry about having to change engine oil and filter.  2 stroke oil not cheap either. Maybe need 3 L for season.   Should be done once a year I was told, regardless of km's on four stroke.  I bought 650 because it's lighter and I like height and feel of Polaris. Wife sat on it she said it's really nice. I can do most of work myself and not have to take it back to dealer. Polaris is for her to ride in future. I be on it this winter and my buddy is riding skidoo for one trip 👌

I don't understand your reasoning. Other than the oil change and a filter change there should be no difference in the work done at that service on a 4 stroke vs. a 2 stroke. You haven't been putting enough km's over the last few years on a sled to even warrant an oil change at each season end.   Now you have to buy oil and install it. So did you pencil out how much you will save on oil/changes riding a 2 stroke?

They don't seem to care about customer loyalty to certain smaller stores. Must be working or they wouldn't do it. 1200 service I had last year was one reason I went back to a two stroke. Big dealers have a check this check that price. All I had done was an oil change and put  battery in.  No other parts were used besides some cleaning supplies and relay for reverse. Did. Chaincase too along with clean clutches. At my old smaller dealer a similar service would be 700 ish tops. They have to pay for these stores too someone too. It's not free. Same thing with tractors now too. We have been turning  our own wrenches when stuff is out of warranty. My friend just had a tractor come out of shop 4,000 bucks all they did was replace a sensor. He was shocked. It' 5  year old tractor just out of warranty.
