For the first time since my cancer treatment 3 years ago I got out for a real good ride. Tight and twisties and almost 200 miles and we did not launch until 10:30 and back by 6. Our youngest son Bruce and I ride well together. We rode out the seguin trail to Kearney. We grabbed a bite at the Legion the food was great, Rode up the D for a while then cruised over to Burks falls. Topped off the gas there. Rode the 706 to the 711 and back across the Seguin and home. Friendly and effecient gas stops at Sprucedale on the way out andthe Petro on the way home. Overal a great day. I have done some smaller rides over the last 3 years but today was the first time really back in the saddle.
Although the cancer treatment appears to have been remarkably successful it was not without its costs. The radiation kills cancer but it also erodes bone mass as well as muscle mass. The follow up zolodex erodes your muscles and bones more as well as other effects. Still all of this is worthwhile when you are faced with the alternative.
Today was sweet. I did spend some time riding thinking of some good friends that I had the pleasure of riding with that have since passed. Tonight I raised a pint to their memory. God rest my friends.
