Glad things have made a turn around for you @Wildbill Thank you for sharing your adventures, both health, and recreational. I wish you good health and well being, for the future. Ski
Feb 22-27 - Cochrane, Canyon, Hearst Trails, Hornpayne (6 riders)
22 Feb - Did the Canyon, East side up - West side down - long day 11 hrs - Two Sidewinders ended up empty of Antifreeze at the top of Canyon (long story) - trails were great except top of Canyon road getting pretty bare.
23 Feb - Rode down to Casey's at Timmins for lunch, bumped into Mr and Mrs Nunz at the warm up shack. Trails great, trail up to Super 8 and Caseys still open and no trees to mount (old story).
24 Feb - Rode to Hearst - Fueled at Kap Shell - access to Kap Esso obstructed by fenced area - access point still there (earlier - when heading west) - just missed it. Lunch at O'brians (big portions).
25 Feb - Day ride to Hornpayne. We didn’t make it. One rider blew a corner, and getting him out took a lot of effort. Big thank you to the three American sledders who stopped to help him before our lead sleds could circle back—snow dust had us stretched out over nearly 40 km. By the time everyone regrouped, the fuel risk was too high to continue to HP.
Did the L163 loop heading back to Hearst - awesome trails, not enough credit to how nice a ride those Hearst loops are.
26 Feb - Ride back to Cochrane- Trails good to great.
27 Feb - Main group departed. Riding buddy and I rode to Moonbeam club-house (wow on upgrades) for some soup, then back to SMR, then did the Canyon up and down into Cochrane. 400KM day, not bad for a 69 year old. Sunny day, great to good trails, only -6 c temp.
Westway parking lot still snow covered. Hotel occupancy rate was up and down for the 5 nights of this trip (availability looks good)
Daily, Brian blows the snow of the sleds in the morning!
Pretty icy all day yesterday, Kincardine, Wingham, Palmerston, Owen Sound, Port Elgin areas
Stopped at the Palmerston Snow Kings for a delicious hot dog and chat...
Thursdays ride was soft, fresh snow, missing those days already, pics from Thursday
