Just select the area you want to see. If you select the far right block (Lake Ontario and parts NE and into Quebec) Then select the 250m scale it gives you a good idea of the areas that have snow and which big lakes are frozen. http://www.flashearth.com/ The other good one is the weather channels web cams, most work and some are pointed at lakes!
