skidooboy Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Figured I would get this started. A bit late, forgive me, I have been fighting covid for almost a week. It looked a lot more like winter in Dub over the weekend. Warmer temps melted it all. Guessing that may be a reoccurring thing, over the course of this season.Ā Enjoy! Ski 2 Quote

Ox Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 I've got [a little bit] more snow than that here....Ā Ā Ā Ā Quote
skidooboy Posted November 28, 2023 Author Posted November 28, 2023 Forecast looks like no above freezing temps for the near future. No real big snows forecast but, that can change, with the big lake machine. Hwy was closed last night. We got a bit more. It's a start. Maybe riding by Christmas. Town looks peaceful, decked out in fresh snow. Ski 2 Quote
skidooboy Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 Figured I would post a pic before the 3 day warm up and rain. River looks tight, that probably will change. Patrick Bouchard and his group of volunteers have been working hard to sign, clean, cut the big trees from our windstorm on the whole system prior to the groomer going out. They have done an awesome job. Hoping we get the funding for a re-route away from rd12 towards White River to avoid more road use issues. If you look, the town streets are now so heavily sanded, unless you time it right, it may be an issue for sleds. Ski 2 Quote
skidooboy Posted December 10, 2023 Author Posted December 10, 2023 Back to winter... Looking at the forecast, seems this will be a reoccurring theme, for a while. At least it looks "better" now. Ski 2 Quote
skidooboy Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 Pretty, bluebird day, at the house. Figured I would give you guys a pic of the good, before the next 3, 4 day warm spell. Ski 3 Quote
skidooboy Posted December 17, 2023 Author Posted December 17, 2023 Well, we didnt lose it all but, it was close. Raining today but, temps should dip below freezing in a few hours, and a small amount of snow is forecast. Unfortunately this cycle repeats, starting Friday. Like I said before in this thread... I am afraid this cycle will repeat a few times this season. Sorry I don't have better news, for us sledheads. Ski 1 Quote

skidooboy Posted December 29, 2023 Author Posted December 29, 2023 Well, the rain, ice, fog event is over, for now. Colder and dryer for the next foreseeable days. Pretty, bluebird type start to our day. There is a tiny bit of snow in the ditches shaded bush but, we are back to zero. Similar start to 2015, our first year with the house. Similar start as last year, received snow, close to grooming, riding, lost it all, rinse, repeat. We are at the house now, internet, and all cams reset. Enjoy your friends, and loved ones. Ox Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 13 hours ago, wrightonalan said: looks more like atv seasonĀ Ā I was just thinking that way last night. Ā When we had that big El-No-No back in '98, what little snow we had all [most] melted away by end of Jan (?) and then refroze - tight! And thenĀ no new snow the rest of the season. It actually would have been a super time to take ATV's out and run the skidoo trails! I mostly think about the Marathon area as their trails were so intense and crossed so much water! They have hills there that they have hitching posts on to winch the groomers up, then go down the other side out onto a swamp or lake. Areas that you would never be able to ride on an ATV otherwise b/c you'd never be able to git to them. Portages really.... Ā So, I was thinking that if that playes out again this year, and I have time, maybe I will pick up a Sportsman and hit the trails anyhow! Ā Ā Ā Pic from Jan '98 on the Searchmont to Wawa trail. The year before that - all you could see down through there was white! I believe that this is at the Bauparlante Road warm-up shack, but as you can see, we weren't in need of any warming up this trip through. The snow was melting out from under us as we hurried to make it back to the truck. Ā Ā Ā . 2 Quote
