skidooboy
Rode D trail from Dub to Hawk junction today, for a burger at the big bear. D trail south is rough with ruts but, "rideable". they are calling for a little snow every day, and decent snow (4-6 inches) weds and thursday. hoping the clubs can groom this up, it is rock hard, right now! skis are hooking ruts, and there are some slick spots, where the wind blew the snow off. had to utilize scratchers with the 2.25" lugs. some trail riders with short tracks/lug, were complaining of hyfax smell, and overheating at the big bear. a little fluff will help a bunch. we took the Magpie River back to Dub, it was a ton better than the D. trail 6 from the badlands to Hawk on the rail bed was pretty darn good. Hope your trip is good. Hornepayne only has one pass on the D108A from the Kabi river, north to town so, it might not be what you are used to here. that all could change with another groom, and some added snow. good luck! MotorCity
Thanks for the update, I am assuming it will be hit or miss until north of Hornpayne from what I am used to, but hopefully they can groom up the new snow coming. MotorCity
Well trip update, we left yesterday at 6 am from Detroit and headed to Wawa Ontario and both groups made it to within. 1.5 hours of Wawa Motor Inn on Hwy 17 North and boom the Hwy was closed due the snow storm..if we were thinking we would of called for a report, but had pure sunshine and zero wind the whole way we were told it will be closed for possible 2 days... we then had to turn around and go back to Searchmont turn off and go 556 up to ranger lake adding 5.5 hours to the trip. Make it to Wawa at 9pm. Stay tuned for more.... 1

skidooboy
511Ontario is your friend, as well as listening to JJAM fm listen live, out of wawa. You can stream it on your phone, or laptop. They both update highway conditions, regularly. They opened the hwy later yesterday afternoon. but, you are right, you never know... Sometimes you may sit there for 20 minutes, 2 hours, 6 hours, or 2-3 days. And you get no warning or update to if/when. At least you only had to backtrack from Batchwana Bay, to Heyden and take the Ranger Lake road cut off but, it still sucks... been there done that. Now, even in summer months, we check 511 before leaving the Soo. A few weeks ago for 3-4 days, the highway was more closed, than open. Hope the rest of the trip is great and uneventful. should have a lot of smooth groomed trails, with close to a foot of fresh snow in the last few days, from Wawa to at least Hornepayne. skidooboy
In that pic with the Hornepayne sign, and ice crossing sign, is down the hill from the Fuel station, in Dubreuilville. If you are standing there, and you look directly to your left, the big ole barn, is ours. If you are at the barn and look up the hill you can see where the club groomed a path from the D west trail that goes through town, on the barn property. The hole at the top of the hill puts you in our backyard. Enjoy your trip, wishing I was up there, right now. Ski

Ski ski, that is pretty risky telling so many reprobates where your recreational home is.😉 1

MotorCity
Day 4 kap to Cochrane for lunch and back. Starting out great, got some trail side food at the grocery store, headed out toward smooth rock falls and found a nice place to build a fire and have some lunch. Ran the A trail and L123 and hats off to everyone involved with there hard work and great efforts for all the work they do putting these trails together for everyone!!!

MotorCity
Day 5 well 1 pic from day 4 the was left out, was a sunk sled pulled out from the groomer and disassembled in the bush removed most of the water new plugs and bam rode for 500 more miles back. We also had a sled blow up 1 mile from Raxfin in Kapaskasing, this company is the first I have ever seen a company have all the parts needed to rebuild a complete motor due to a fuel injector letting go. Fixed and back running that night. Lots of praise to the company in Kapaskasing.
