We are planning to go away for a nice birthday weekend getaway and looking for some suggestions.

Has to have enough things to do to keep an 11 yr. old boy entertained. No Call of Duty for a few days could be very painful, for the parents !!!!

Suggestions?

Could go to the Sheraton in niagara falls and go to the watermark, which is in the same complex. It would be better to go to great wolf lodge, since only guests of the hotel can use the waterpark. The waterpark is great there too. The kid will have a blast.

Thanks for the suggestions, have done Niagara Falls a few times. Our son likes the nice hotels, it's funny that he uses that as a measure of enjoyment, but who am I to judge!

Done Great Wolf Lodge before, not really wow'd by the place. But if you ever plan on going on March Break go to the one in Sandusky Ohio. Nowhere near as busy and I found it cheaper than the one in Niagara Falls.

Was really looking for a place up north like Deerhurst or Grandview, but not much for an 11 year old to do!

How about Fern resort in Orillia near the narrows. Casino Rama is just down the road. While the 11 yr old can't go to the casino itself there may be a show he could see that might be of interest.

Are you looking for this time of year, or later on in the Winter? If it was later on in the Winter..I might suggest a dogsledding/ snowmobile excursion at Haliburton Forest. They also have a wolf exhibit. This was the first year that one of the wolves had a new litter of pups in a few years! They are cool to see, and look majestic in the Winter.

Izzy, There is a place in Houseys rapids, Ontario. Which is very nice. Kind of has a farm atmosphere. Just show up anytime and dont worry about booking. If your interested Ill message you the address. Oh and its all inclusive as well.

I would suggest there...................

As for Deerhurst, there is always something to do. Lots of sports and nature stuff. Not the best at this time of year but still worth it.

Izzy,

Pick me!

We can go to the ballet in NIagara Falls.

The lifeguard at Great Wold Lodge can watch the kid(s).

You're not going to win any 'father of the year awards', but think of the memories.

______

In all seriousness, consider Deerhurst as mentioned above. Or, join Groupon or one of these daily discounters and see what online offers are made.

Edit: Lep's advice re: Science North...great place for kids.

I spent an afternoon there once and I would not want to subject an 11year old to that!!

Owners are very friendly, but I heard the Ministry of Health closed them down.

Something about sheep and 2 stroke oil!!

Thanks WD, we were actually looking at Carriage Ridge Resort but they are booked up for the weekend we wanted.

So we are going to look at Horseshoe Resort. Hopefully some of the activities are still running, if not we have paintball, and trail work!!!

I can just picture that, ok rise and shine we are going to clear some snowmobile trails!!!

Is the paintball place Barrie Paintball?
