Technically any half ton with a single axle 3500lb trailer needed the yellow stickers. It was such a cash grab. Glad it’s gone for personal use, most homeowners never knew about it anyways... I still need them though.
Diesels are meant for towing heavy loads day in day out and making money. If your not making money with it, there’s no point in owning one unless you get a smoking deal on it. Jmo though
diesels do hold their value a bit better also.
Diesels are great for towing heavy loads everyday, but the maintenance and costs of repairing a diesel can be expensive. I almost bought a new diesel, but went with the gas engine instead. The 6.0ls are tough as nails and it’s very rare they have any issues.
The 4.8 would’ve definitely been working harder. 6.0 doesn’t break a sweat, does everything I need it to do. The 4.8 was an awesome little truck, was nice and smooth too. 7’ wide trailers are great, you don’t need to extend your mirrors to see behind you, and the trailer is basically the same width as the tow truck. It works for us.
Those look like Nokian tires, they’re supposed to make a big difference. If there were ever a ton of snow, I’m not sure the tire setup would be as good as tracks. But if it’s a low snow area, I can see where the tires would be cost efficient and most likely work better than tracks.
If GBSR are not grooming their trails, then all of those trails on that picture I posted would not be maintained this year. This is how I read it in the OP, but I could be reading it wrong.
I hope not, I really don’t want to get out of the sport, but if there’s major trail losses that continue to happen I may just sell both sleds. There’s still a lot of very good trails to ride on. But it definitely has me thinking after losing 250kms at home, and now GBSR are shutting down until further notice...which is some very good riding around my dads cottage. It just makes you wonder sometimes if this sport in Ontario is heading down the tube. It’s very frustrating...
Been looking at these new blast models from cat lately, thinking about possibly getting one for the wife but not sure if it’ll be enough power. The other option is a 6000 c-tec. Just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on these new sleds. I think they did very well with targeting the first time rider, smaller women and teenagers. I thought forsure they might have been around $8k, not $10-$11k. Pretty cool sled overall.
My 7 year old boy rides a 250 bravo. My buddy has an old 440 mxz and beats the hell out of it, and they are fast sleds! I would find either a 250 or even a 340 enticer. Both are very light.
They were calling for 5mm down here today but we’ve only seen a few drops. Been watching the radar like a hawk and it shows barely any rain for today. Looks like the rain will be coming in tomorrow for about half a day and will move through fairly quick.
