From a Groomer Guy F/B post: "For the snowmobile friends that ride our area. The new Hornepayne Hotel will be open this winter. This awesome for those that like short days, stay in Dubreuilville at the Magpie Relay Motel then go to Hornepayne one night and then back the next day."

Another trail closure in Gaspe. Here is part of a post from QR : "The Rapide Blanc snowmobile club has announced that, for safety reasons, the Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Rivière-Madeleine footbridge on the TQ-5 will be closed for the 2025 season. The Club is working to find a bypass for this portion of the trail. In the absence of a local alternative, rest assured that the Grand Tour de la Gaspésie circuit can still be completed!" If they can't find a workable re-route the northeastern part of TQ5 east will loose about 300km of trail for those wanting to do the coastal loop. Effectively, you would need to turn south on 597 towards Murdockville and either and south from there to the local trail towards the town of Gaspe' or continue to the south coast on 597. If you are planning on doing Gaspe this season, I would suggest making reservations early as some good accomodations won't be available if there is no re-route.

2025 OFSC permit now available for Order
PISTON LAKE CRUISER replied to Sledguy74's topic in Main Clubhouse
I ordered one permit on the 20th and received it quickly. I ordered a second permit on the evening of the 30th and have received shipping confirmation. The difference in the permit #'s indicate they processed 20,418 between my 2 orders and that they had sold more than 31,000 permits before the end of the early order period. -

So its OK with you if the government takes some of your farmland for this purpose. -

Sometimes you just have to put it on the trailer or in the truck to get a ride when there is no snow available at home. That part has been around for a number of years in Southwestern Ontario Ontario. -

I think "might hurt" is way to conservative. If you close the trails in what is now considered southern Ontario the OFSC would need to close up shop. -

Ordered mine on October 20 and got it on October 24th by regular mail. The permit # is 11054. That appears to mean that approx. 11,000 early purchase permits were ordered in the first 20 days. Sure hope there is a rush in the last 10 days or groomer frequency may get thin this winter. -
This is the first year that I had serious second thoughts about doing trail installation. It has passed, we are at it while the fields are dry and getting more enthused as I go. Fortunately our volunteers have finished the MOU's up and the map is green so we are in good shape for Oct. 22nd.

Welcome to the forum JIMMXZ! I'm sure you'll get a few chucles and some knowledge from the crew around here.

Question for the people that have a diesel heater in their trailer. Does your insurance company know about the heater? If not, could it be an issue if you had a trailer fire?

Unfortunately Trail Closed signs and caution tape do not work for many riders of an age that should know better let alone the stand up crowd. They know that the police are the only ones that can hold them accountable and they are unfortunately few and far between.

The few VOLUNTEERS that do most of the work (admin & physical labour) generally need a break from club work by the time that spring comes around and wrap up club items arecompleted. Many have work or other things to do in the off season.

I wouldn't worry too much. This job will get done by the few faithful volunteers that most clubs have.

There is a spot on the form for the club info. and for a signature of someone from the club. No mention of witness. There is also a spot to fill in the info. for the club contact and for an OFSC District office contact. Our club trails are mostly on farmland and so there are quite a number of landowners since the trail may only cross one or a number of fields for each landowner.

I believe the only ones that would work with the factory skis on your Mach were Rollerski from Qualipieces at least back in 2022/2023.

Looks nice but I wonder about cleaning the snow/ice and salt off that will accumulate on the floor. Does it include central vac?

According to initial information from the Service de police de la Ville de Québec, a man was injured while working on a snowmobile in a mechanic's garage. For unknown reasons, the snowmobile began to move forward, and the worker tried to hold it back. The snowmobile collided with a van on Bastien Boulevard.

I know there are some very short narrow stretches normally between groomer turnaround locations. This is a long distance we're talking about. I can't find any regulations regarding minimum trail width in public OFSC sites. I don't ever remember riding any long stretches of single width prescribed trail but my memory has failed from time to time.

If it is still that way, how is the club(s) allowed to open the trail given all the risk management and trail signage/grooming regulations and requirements?

ttps://www.rideapart.com/news/730207/polaris-worldwide-snowmobile-recall-fire/ the Quickshift Polaris is recalling approximately 285,000 snowmobiles from model years 2013-2024 due to a potential fire risk The recall relates to degraded fuel and a potential for electrostatic discharge (ESD) in the fuel tank system if the sleds stay stationary for extended periods of time Certain 2021-2024 Matryx platform, 2015-2024 Axys-platform, and 2013-2014 ProStar S4 snowmobiles are included in this recall Owners of affected sleds can safely keep riding, per Polaris, as long as they adhere to specific fuel (or fuel additive) requirements to eliminate ESD Polaris officially announced a major recall on multiple of its snowmobile models, spanning model years 2013 through 2024 due to a potential fire risk. According to the snowmobile OEM, certain 2021-2024 Matryx-platform sleds, 2015-2024 Axys-platform sleds, and 2013-2014 ProStar S4 sleds could potentially be affected. In our agricultural based area many times a small weather window opens with little advance notice to get some work done. Having been trail boss in the past, I can tell you that when this happens there isn't a lot of time for calling around looking for short notice volunteer help especially on weekdays and it usually seems in our club to end up with 2-3 retired guys just going and getting it done. Not ideal but reality.

One or more bridges started on fire in Quebec this summer as well. What the hell is wrong with people!
