  1. It's not really that simple. It doesn't mean that you are not allowed there by law. Is it on Crown? I ass_u_me that the east side is at least? The west side is likely Crown that has an easement from the Hydro? Which is still Crown? In Algoma area, a green trail mostly means that you now need a permit, or a local camp to be here. When it's red - you can be there with anything that you want. (if it's Crown) Snowmachine (in June if you like), Camper, Swamp Buggy (those guys can doo a lot of damage ina short time!) Camper, even a transport if you like. Also means that the OFSC isn't liable for any damage. Forget the fact that it's Ride at'cher own risk anyhow ... I'm guessing that the day that Halfway said that they were closing for the season, that the trails all went red in that area. With the report of all that new snow and closed trails - If I had the ability to scootch accrost the St. Mary's River, I'd'a been there in a heartbeat! (or maybe 9 hours of them anyhow)
  2. Likely just means that they are done grooming.
  3. Of course - the other side of that is: If it doesn't matter, and it's the same off-season, then why not make it November?
  4. While I agree with you on that, but in the end, does it matter if your warranty starts in April or in November? It's all the same off-season anyhow .... ???
  5. Doesn't look like much snow-pack there at all? The Soo got nailed all winter, but Elliot Lake didn't git much? I thought that the North Shore was getting good snow?
  6. They saved the basement!
  7. Looks like they just turned around at the crick. (small river I guess - it looks to be aboot 40' accrost) I wouldn't know why they made that short spur tho? https://www.google.com/maps/@49.8485611,-83.1831199,1795m/data=!3m1!1e3 Here is the vid. I love this ride! But watching a few vids like this tells me that I don't want a turbo. I don't want to listen to those things pump'n dump all day. My chums M11 was cool for a bit, but listening to 2 strokes with them, nah....
  8. A) Left hand throttle (and mtn bar) takes care of that. (still working on my LH, but may get time this week...) B] I was going to say that he just needs a bud to stand on the ski... and then he got one! LOL! C) Hesitation was actually the issue. A fluid move would have made the corner in time. Yeah, well I aint dead yet. I love bushwhackin'! Those 360's are somethin'! A cpl yrs ago I was watching a vid about "Going up the waterfall". Wasn't really a waterfall, but rather just a drainage... But while watching the vid, the camera never missed anything, and I was wondering how the guy was always looking the right way (back at his bud) at just the right time? I finally came to the conclussion that it must be some sort of panaramic view camera that was editable after the fact? Then in the credits I saw "Go Pro 360". YEP! So, doo you make it all the way from Hearst to Moosonee in one pull? That's gotta be aboot 300 miles? Going that direction I think that you miss William's camp eh? We started that trip back in '08, and burnt down two carbed sleds from the steady throttle in a lean spot while pulling a big sleigh. Should have raised the needles one or two notches I guess... We was planning on camping out overnight(s). Decided I'd try it aggin when we all have fuel infected or 4 strokes.
  9. Does he have some sort'a red light on his back?
  10. 6000 klicks? I see that you've been running up those logs since the beginning of time. Are you retired, or maybe you have a summer construction job? Or?
  11. Yeah, I keep reading about all the fast riding up there [on here] and I keep wondering if things have changed or what? When we were up there in the 90's, we were warned to not hit it too hard on Top A as they hand out tickets like they are Carter's little Liver Pills.
  12. My daughter had one (wolf) at least that close, only SHE was the one that bolted! At 14 yrs old and not all that much experience, she held that 470 liquid to the bars while trying to navigate a swamp, knowing full well that he was nipping at her snowflap the whole way - 'till she found someone. (me) That was the last time that she has came to Canada with me, and the 2nd last time she has went sledding. (Partly doo to being busy with other stuff as she got older, but ....)
  13. Actually, I am purty sure that they just load a fuel truck on the train and unload it on the other end, fill the petro station, and load it back up and go home. It's not THAT involved...
  14. I may have to tune into that TV show "Locked Up Abroad" in the future sometime!
  15. Well, maybe.... I seen a bobcat on our square a cpl years ago. Looked just like a big cat, but much shorter and bobtailed. (from my vantage point driving down the road) It didn't have the "lynx" look to it like most bobcats, but I have seen pics of a bobcat that looked like this, so... But there have been some sightings in our area of a big cat with a long tail. My buddy (>70) hasn't seen it, but he said that his wife and son both say that they have seen a long tail. But why are we not seeing reports from game cams? Hmmmm..... ??? On the flip side, I saw a lynx mounted in a DNR office in Colorado, and I asked if it was local, and they said that it was hit on the road up around Leadville. (north central part of the state) Typically they are not seen south of the 49th.
  16. The north shores require snow from the south to get much. It's the same on the north side of Superior. And we seemed to have a LOT of wind out of the south this winter! But it was always a cold wind. It was weird....
  17. I expected big lake effect this year. Just wish I could git accrost the river.
  18. Well, that is the killer at Halfway as well. When Steve and Dennis put that in in '99, every sled that came through the yard was taking 8.5-9 gallons. If you were pushing any snow, you ran out a cpl klicks from the pump. Fuel was bringing home the bacon (Enjoli? ) and everyone through helped to finance it, but now days?
  19. "LOT'S OF SNOW!" "Hit a rock'n broke my chaincase."
  20. Well, actually - in Wawa (Lake) they likely were OPP. But I am guessing that the ones out at Point Lake Road (Searchmont) were Wardens, or likely just reps from The Soo Trailblazers Club. (same thing?)
  21. Pic 3 = White Cliffs of Dover? Pic 5 = They are wanting to serve bureaucrats?
  22. Considering where we are riding - we seldom ever see trail wardens. There was one stop on The Domtar at Point Lake Rd intersection once many years ago that I recall, but I don't recall that we got stopped in that? Seems like we just popped outta the bush just beyond that? (McDonald Creek) I'm guessing that the reason that they were that far out (55 klicks from Searchmont) was so that you weren't gunna play the "on our way to our cabin" card as that ship sailed once you hit The Domtar. Only time I know for sure of being asked to present our permits was when we met a N bound groomer (Soo) in this thicket between The Cow and Linus Lakes area somewhere. Dec '99. And quite honestly, I don't think they would have actually been required as the trail wasn't open for business yet, so ... ???
  23. My boy lost his windshield when going through some deadfall, and he didn't even realize it. That was aboot the time that we just quit running them.
