  1. IMMEDIATE NOTICE Halfway Haven Lodge to close for the remainder of the Snowmobile Season Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to announce the immediate closure of The Halfway Haven Lodge for the remainder of the snowmobile season, effective February 24th, 2022. There will be NO FUEL, ACCOMODATIONS OR FOOD SERVICES available, therefore we do not advise travelling the snowmobile trails to the lodge for safety reasons. Our staff has worked tirelessly to provide a service for the snowmobile community; however, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations effective today. We thank everyone for the ongoing support and commitment to Halfway Haven, and we look forward to serving our customers in the future. This will change your plans Scott... sorry buddy!!! Ski
  2. yes, that is a transport. snow banks on the side of hwy 17, between Wawa, and the Soo, (closer to Wawa, at Mingimungshing turn off). it is like driving in a tunnel up there. Ski
  3. food for thought... having a "camp" or home in the snowbelt, is better for traveling once completely set up. you leave the sleds/gear there, unless they are being sold, repaired, or warranty issues. you can jump in any capable vehicle, and travel without a trailer. less stressful, and easier, faster traveling. case in point, we drove home from Dubreuilville to Lansing Michigan area, approx 450 miles total. the first 200 miles was after a huge storm, and was the slowest part. 90 miles north of our place in Michigan had a 50-75 mile swath that got hit with a huge ice storm. we still made it home in just shy of 8 hours. worst part is being that far away from the house is, when you have a break in, home break down, emergencies, etc... 4. we got hammered last night, in Dub, Wawa area. groomers cant keep up. 6-8" every day since sunday, with non stop high winds. non stop shoveling and plowing. Ski
  5. We have been getting hammered the last few days. well over a foot since Sunday. Ski
  6. have only saw 2 sleds in 3 days of riding. was awesome, until the rock hit. now I have to decide on belt drive, or stock chain case again. first world problems. Ski
  7. More and more snow daily. offtrail is AWESOME. Trails have a lot of fluff, blowing and drifting, and the club cant keep up. trails may be a little less flat than usual but, lots of snow. cracked my chaincase yesterday, sourcing parts to fix it for next trip. Ski
  8. if you are leaving hearst shortly after breakfast, it is only 2-3 hours tops to Hornepayne. I dont know about you but, that is too soon for me to eat. we usually would bust butt, to eat in Dubreuilville, or suck it up one more hour and eat at the Big Bear in Hawk Junction. then you only have a 30 minute ride or so to Wawa. with that said, Cindy's is your best bet. too bad the hospital isnt open for lunch anymore, that was a great place to eat, for reasonable fees. Ski
  9. pouring rain here in central lower michigan heading north east as far north as Sault ste Marie. Ski
  10. I know the shuttle is an option but, no way I am putting my sled on an open trailer, to get covered in road shit for 60kms, then finish my ride. I would ride out and back, or pick a destination with day riding loop trails, before doing that to a 20k dollar toy. Ski
  11. When Are you guys coming this way? we will be up Feb 17-21, then march 13-18, and the 1st two weeks of April. Ski
  12. Not Far at all, @AC+YA can give an exact mileage. if I remember correctly it is before Mcphail dam, which is just south of town. Ski
  13. been a few weeks, we have lots of snow, for on trail and off trail fun. now, if I could make the time to get up there. Ski
  14. ^^^^^ this! always fill up before putting them to bed at night, especially when leaving outside. everywhere in your fuel tank where there is no fuel will be frost (moisture), add fuel the next am, and bam... water in your fuel, and possible sled problems. Ski
  15. Saw that, on the book of feces. Ski
  16. I know, me too. between you, the Mrs, and the twins, and their hubby's, I am petrified to ride with you guys. LOL! Lynne and I will just ride in the back with our offtrail rigs, and pull you guys out of the rhubarb. Just wait for us at the major turns. LOL! Ski
  17. we tend to play a lot on the crown land on the way there so, it is an all day effort for us. LOL! Ski
  18. I dont know about all that. LOL! Ski
  19. yep, half a days ride to HH from Dub. Ski
  20. you will have plenty of time. gas, at Hornepayne, maybe a ride through, or coffee at Cindy's. then onto Dubreuilville, ride trhough, or lunch/coffee at the LOL! sports bar. if you take the D trail and not the Magpie, stop at the Big Bear in Hawk Junction, the best food in the area. then on to Wawa for your night stay. if it were me, I would eat a big breakfast, hump down to the big bear, eat there, then you only have a 30 minute ride to your night time destination, with your belly full already. if you are planning a loop make sure you keep tabs on the Timmins club, they have a trail routing issue between Timmins and Foleyet. not sure if the big loop will be easy once you get there, or if it will be opened. Ski
  21. dub 1 is the only available option. D108a (in this example pic) will probably never be utilized again. and in the near future (after this year) dub 1 will be a lot slower, and different. this may (will) be the last year of using the roads. dub 5 is the Magpie reservoir, it is faster than the D trail but, not by much. it is about a 250 mile (miles) day. get an early start, and no issues getting in before dark. Ski
  22. we run the sena 20S evo's they are a bluetooth, communicator and media unit. having the ability to talk, and warn people about changing conditions, is a godsend. no more stopping, waiting, hand signals, yelling conversations over running motors etc... having music, helps me pass the time, on rides, no different than listening to music in the background at work, in the car, at home. just makes the experience a little better. hearing a song later in life, that was playing during a specific moment, helps you "remember, and relive" the experience. I find myself doing that, more than paying attention to what is coming out of the speakers, while riding. I understand it isnt for everyone but, I enjoy it. your results may vary. Ski
  23. sorry this all happened to you at once. I dont blame you, when the entitled open their mouths. sad state of affairs. Ski
  24. good news Scotty! I know lots of people freak out when dealing with the adjuster for a theft, or total loss settlement. but, in my experience (30 years in the collision repair industry), unless you are expecting an extravagant amount for your settlement... you get a good settlement. most people that complain, believe their unit is "pristine, or mint, like new", etc... and they are over estimating the "quality" of their actual unit. or they think they should get "replacement value" v.s condition at time of loss value. I have said it many times, if you ever wanted to sell you car, boat, sled, motorcycle, etc... for top dollar, total it, and settle with the insurance provider. it would be a hard decision to be in your shoes, pay high dollar for a used sled, to ride the last few weeks of the season, pay top dollar and then some at the dealer, for whatever they have in stock, order a new sled for next season, or just get out of it, and wait for prices to settle again. as much as I love riding sleds, I could leave it right now. good luck buddy! Ski
  25. after yesterday's snow, it is looking like it is go time! Ski
