  1. Minus 20 at 6:00 am in The Rapids this morning. Sweet !
  2. Great Podcasts ! Entertaining and informative. Brings back memories of the very first ones you tried with Rick. You’ve always been ahead of the curve !
  3. That is why I try not to say “never”. Sadly, the McManus General Store closed last December. It was a dandy !
  4. For someone who is Very Careful about saying “never”, I “strongly doubt” I will EVER go back in that place.
  5. Thanks for the good news. It would be great to have that spot open and being a worthwhile stop again.
  6. Omg! I remember lots of back and forth on here with Mike. And we lined up a meet at the Wawa Motor Inn one night while on a sled tour. It was a long night in the lounge, with lots and lots of crazy stories. A night I will always remember because I enjoy, so much, telling the stories he told us. If I can find some pix from that night I will post them. Smooth Trails Sasquatch !! It was a pleasure and an honour to meet you.
  7. Great Move. Best wishes in your new location !! * * I read that on a gravestone
  8. I would agree that both of those are great places to stay. In addition, very close to La Bannik is Domaine Temikami - another great spot. Getting back over and getting closer to Mekoos, you can also enjoy Auberge Lac Taureau. ENJOY !!! And, if you do want to get over past QC, the Fairmont Manoir Richelieu is another wonderful spot with indoor sled parking.
  9. For your very first OFSC annual meeting initiation you will be led to a room with a goat. Be brave.
  10. It is a more than reasonable price for consistently awesome trails. I’ll be back in Quebec again this year.

  12. Tata, bravo and welcome to the forum. I look forward to visiting again!
  13. Sounds like the same building I might have stayed in when I was there. Nice place. I’d go back.
  14. Last time we were there we had a cabin. Are there rooms in the main lodge as well?
  15. It was a Yamaha. We'll invite them back into our riding group when they get something that works. (that should stir things up)
  16. So....WAY back in this thread the Northridge, Sundridge/Lake Bernard has been mentioned more than once. I've stayed there more than once. Last year, around the first weekend in February, a group of us stayed there and, once again, I enjoyed their accommodations and their dining. ok, the bar was pretty good too. Sunday morning was to be the return trip to home. One couple had an issue starting a sled. An insane amount of time was devoted to trying to get this buggy going including hair dryers, boiling water, gas line additives, and holding various ignition parts between one's thighs. Nothing. Husband says to wife, "you stay, I'll ride home and get the truck/trailer and drive here to pick up the dead sled". And off he goes with STK3. Wife decides that by the time they sled home, husband hooks up and drives back it will be plenty late and not a great time to be trailering home so she asks the Northridge if she can keep the room for another night. Fortunately, it was a Sunday and not an issue. Husband finally shows up in the dark with truck and trailer. The Northridge owner sends a couple of staff out to help them hump this dead sled into an enclosed trailer. The Northridge owner lets them know that the kitchen/bar is closed but he would whip up something really simple if they wanted. They ordered a couple of sandwiches and a rum and coke and the owner fixed them up. Monday morning they checked out. Husband asks the front desk, "how much to I owe you for last night?". The reply was, "Nothing". He says, "But, we had a room and had some food". And she said, "The owner put last night on the house". She said, "He didn't want your memory of your weekend here to be spoiled by your snowmobile issues. He wanted you to have fond memories of your stay". I'll stay there again.
  17. Tool_guy, I don't remember Mattawa Golf and Ski having a hot tub either. Although, I don't remember a lot of things.
  18. Another vote for Pinestone from me. Been there 3 or 4 times.
  19. Best to call them directly. They usually have a snowmobiler special . Not sure what winter specials they are offering this year. Our bookings for this year are a carry over from last year because the trails were not open. The last time we stayed there was "about" the first weekend in February and the stake line was in down the lake into their property. Our booking this year is roughly the same date. The weather seems to be pointing to a similar stake line arrival. I've heard there is a land route in case of unsettled ice condition but have never used it. It might be something else to enquire about when you have them on the phone. Enjoy !!!
  20. Our stay at Morning Mist was a one nighter. Lots of great spots mentioned in this thread . And have stayed at several. I'd suggest selecting based on where you expect to be landing after your chosen mileage for the day. You're not going to go wrong with those listed here. Great info thread !
