I was replying about the Bloomindale Trail.  St. Clements trail was decent this morning but by late this afternoon it was all loose snow on an icy base.

I like to skip Sudbury proper and launch out of Windy Lake Motel, Hwy 144, Levack. Great people who support sledding and provide parking while you are away on a trip. I would tend to go clockwise and make Dunlop Lake Lodge my next stay. Next night, in Chapleau there are a few reasonable options. I have no idea how many km/day you wish to ride, so I will hold back on what's next. I have Timmins, Iroquois Falls, Kirkland Lake, Gowganda Lake favourites, but I suspect you do also. The gas issue from Black Creek to Chapleau requires some planning. Most sleds must carry extra fuel, which can either be in fuel caddies, fuel cans or even the less recommended disposable containers (not just tossed in the bush). I have made it twice from BC to Chapleau on my tank fuel, but that is with a 900 ACE n/a. Just north of Black Creek, I recall shaving over 20 KM off the proper trail route by using a locals' run that involved using Ranger Lake Road and another "road", that was easy to find and follow. I have used that route two or three times, but the most recent was 4 or 5 years ago, so I would want to confirm that with someone familiar with the area. Folks on this forum were very helpful when I first used the short cut six (maybe seven) years ago. I think that you travel solo quite often. I wouldn't recommend that on this trip, and I would yield to the weather if it is forecast to be nasty. Sounds like you have lots of time to figure out the logistics.
