    • I'll agree with Farmer. Once you get south of Mount Forest, it's mostly field running. North has more bush trail mixed in and more elevation changes. The only good thing about field based trails is there is less road running.   I usually drop in Varney and ride north from there.   Plenty of good lunch stops. Farmer mentioned The Homestead.   Some others. Pebble's Buffet, Varney. The Spot, Mount Forest. The Dunes, Sauble Beach. Walter's Falls Inn, Walter's Falls. (good place to stay too, sled access, trailer Parking, wife friendly) Steven's BBQ, Markdale.   Ted's Range Road Diner, Meaford, is an adventure too but they have strange hours.       Just a note for some of you District 9 regulars. I read that the Dairy Daughter Gas station in Markdale has been sold and its going to be closed for renovations. Very popular station for sleds. I have fueled up at the Ultramar at the north end of town before but its been years. Not sure if you can get there from the rear off the railbed any more.
    • Two things I regret 1-we did a trip in 1996 from Gravenhurst up to Cochrane-Hornepayne-Sault Ste Marie and I looked up at the sign stating it was 400kms to ThnderBay (by road that is )  lol we booked in ay SSM I called work and asked if I could get 4 more days off and was turned down. So we rode back to Gravenhurst. Back then we had to get trailered across the pickerell river and french river.  2-was invited to ride on Maine and said maybe next year. Well I am still waiting for next year.
    • Is that place still trail accessible out back? Haven't been there in years. Owen sound is a good hub. I always wanted to go to Wiraton stay a night or two as well.  Home stead resort is a good spot to go for lunch too, in Durham.   mount forest is getting pretty far south I prefer to stay above it  Walkerton has some newer hotels too not sure on trail accessibility.  Use to be a good ride over to thornbury for lunch too. Really enjoyed that trail in past. Always wanted to go all way to wasaga beach stay a night come back.
    • Days inn owen sound or best Western Owen Sound. I love riding the trails in Hanover, Neustadt, Mount Forest, Owen Sound, Chesley, Wiarton, Sauble Falls and of course Meaford. In all honesty I love all of D9. So many club houses throughout, many waterfalls to see and many great restaurants.
    • Looking like the lake effect is starting again.  If things open up any advice on sites to see and trails to ride in the area for a 3 day trip.  Also what are the best places to stay at.  Has been on the bucket list for years, but never been.  Open to any / all advise.  Would be going mid week, but only if conditions are worth the trek.
