At one time it was up to the property owner to allow OPP to conduct enforcement like RIDE on private property. Once you came within 60' a road crossing they can grab you as you were generally on public property called a road allowance. In some cases the township had sold the allowance to a private buyer. In 2024 police were granted authority to "investigate" things like impaired on your property. Now if they see operating equipment with a beer between your legs, they can roll up on you and charge you.
There were a few locals that had private area's for mud bogging that were highly visible from the road. I notice there has been zero activity the last couple summers. I often wonder if that was due to new policing powers?
Pretty soon we wont be allowed to have a beer on the deck.
