  1. Bon aire is good. They do charge 10 dollars a day for leaving a truck and trailer there. They give a receipt which is a piece of mind your truck and stuff will be there when you return. 24 hour desk survelence. With super 8 parking lot is jammed with truck and trailers. Mikes restaurant is right next door to Bonaire, as above post. I would stay again.
  2. So sad. I use to sled out of Mitchell in mid 90’s. My grand parents lived right across from area. Cars had trouble navgating streets. Banks were up to shoulder high too. Miss those days. Use to snow like crazy there.
  3. If we can’t retain permission what kind of message will this send to local land owners. I am hoping new farm trespassing laws, will make it easier to bust trespassers. Have to wait and see but government seems serious on new farm trespassing laws. This could be good news for sport and to ensure compliance with permits.
  4. No since complaining can’t change weather. When you leaving?
  5. Great news. Hopefully his efforts pay off and he has a good winter season. Great location for us southern riders.
  6. Even Stratford isn’t getting snow it use too either and allot of other area’s. Funny thing is past few summers haven’t been that hot either and springs have been cool and wet. Hopefully winter returns soon, after all it is Canada. Next two weeks doesn’t look like anything like a classic Canadian winter forecast either, but can change overnight..
  7. I have seen winters not start until February. Here in southern Ontario we are all bummed out because of past winters. Good news is no two winters are alike but the string of mild winters the last 4 years, has me wondering if snow is a thing of past here in kitchener area. Ground not frozen either so going to need some help from Jack Frost to blow in a polar vortex soon or trails will never last if we do get snow. Still hope lots of winter left.
  8. That is true. Suppose to be dead centre on windshield though, if you follow directions on permit. Cameras not feasible anyways no resources for this and revenue stream might never recover costs of technology anyways.
  9. That is good news if charges stick. Maybe trail system could use high tech cameras in future to catch some of free loaders then. Not sure if that is realistic option since some people will smash them no doubt.
  10. Yup and most likely no permits either would be my guess.
  11. Great spot with many day trips in different directions. Club trails are always great in area.
  12. Yeah I might have to pick up, I am too slow and end up at lake lodge for a mid jan ride. pics look fantastic!
  13. That happened last night here and wind was harsh too. Ground is thawed right out and going to take a polar vortex followed by a good storm to get things open in d5.
  14. Yup I think we had 2.5 days of yellow trails around new Dundee and Baden area, before it was trashed by weather. Weather is changing no doubt. Winters starting later with more frequent and severe thaws. Starting back at zero again, first week of January. Let’s hope cold comes in and ground freezes and we get a decent season for a change. Still hope not February yet like some years.
  15. Congratulations hope you get snow to ride up your way.
  16. Wow that is a shame, especially when they have given allot to sport in area. Hope they can pull thru.
  17. Can you give any insight into what happened here? If it is happening with hardly any snow and no open trails, can only imagine what is going to happen when we get enough snow.
  18. Sorry to hear that. I visited it a few years ago and enjoyed it. Government is cutting everything it seems. Such a shame since it is a major attraction in Cochrane no doubt. One of reasons people stop there.
  19. Awesome too. Always was interested in trying area out. Heard terrain is more interesting there then Cochrane.
  20. Whole idea of self insuring is to hold money in trust until needed. It would take time to do it no doubt. Ofsc should be way farther ahead once reserves got built up though. Maybe a portion of self insurance and a portion of regular insurance would work, to build necessary reserves and cover risks. Powers in numbers and maybe we could eventually join atv riders to self ensure too. Anything is possible. Have to think outside box to survive today.
  21. Maybe ofsc could start to self insure its trail system to cut costs. I don’t see why not.
  22. Now you can buy 8 days total( 4, 2 day permits) before you Hit cost of a full season permit. Early permit is a great deal and I always take advantage of it. But with no snow around here better to wait and see before shelling out 270 dollars, that is all, especially since you can buy online and ride right away. I would be in favour of a two year permit if it ever gets tied to Val tags, just like license on cars. Then ofsc could plan farther ahead and count on funds and do an investment ahead of time to grow funds during off season.
  23. Last year only rode half a day at home and 3 days in central ontario. Weather changing in south central ontario. Not much snow here for past four years. I just sold one snowmobile last month, etec is gone. Now only have one. Hoping to ride it more this year. Wait and see.
  24. Why buy a permit then? . May as well wait and buy multi days when you do ride. I think you can still change a multi day permit into a full season permit and they will credit you the amount of the last multi day pass you bought, in same season. (Unless that program got axed too)
  25. That is what I thought too but problem would come and go. If sled every shuts off while riding, I would look deeper. Glad you are having fun, I haven’t even got sled out of storage yet.
