  1. So does it matter where and which region we buy permit from, if ofsc just relcolates it based on the matrix?
  2. I be happy if they are open and will travel with a few pairs of gloves so I can leave them on sled along with my helmet. I just ordered a spare breathing mask for my helmet too, so I have a dry one to put back on if necessary. Handy if a snap breaks anyways. Thinking of designing some sort of helmet cover to keep it dry too, while it sits on snowmobile. Sure glad we can carry things on these new sleds. Sure going to come in handy this winter.
  3. Only issue with NL is it can get drifted in bad in windy stormy weather in open areas. I spend extra hour driving to elk lake at least. Much better.
  4. We stayed in Timmins first night, then moose horn, then dub, then Hearst, then Cochrane then back to elk lake. C trail was closed then from kap side to Timmins otherwise I could have made kap from dub and bs l to elk lake in a day less from kap. I ran into riders at Hearst that left Kirkland lake and where headed to dub for night and it was already 5 pm. Told me they had two days to do loop.
  5. Yes I rode a similar loop with my dad in 2017. If, C trail is open easy to get back to elk lake from kap or Hearst. That time short cut was closed so we went to Cochrane for night, before heading back to elk lake.
  6. Another option is to try and plan big loop starting from elk lake, to moose horn lodge, to Dubrevuille (magpie relay) then to Hearst companion or queens (companion has garage) and then back to elk lake) That’s a nice ride if you can get accomdations and meals. Add a day and do canyon loop if available and back to Cochrane. Then next day back to elk lake. I am pretty sure the loop will be available and accdomdation partners will welcome you and your group. Good luck!
  7. When is next snowmobile club meeting for St clements?
  8. Meals are good there and will do meal plans no problem or lend you bbq and get food of your choice too. They have general store on property which is real handy. They have good size cottages That area would be fun for approx 3 days, unless you can do one or two nights to North or south. North bay is a nice ride and stay one night and come back or Sudbury. Terrain is real nice in elk lake area. I prefer it over far north. Heading south is an amazing ride. You would enjoy it I think. Other people will chime in.
  9. http://gowgandalakelodge.com great place and location for snowmobiling. Can loop up to Cochrane or south to Sudbury. A few loops you can do. They have gas and home cooked meals for thier guests.
  10. Might not happen this year anyways, with COVID rules. I will ask when I go in.
  11. Most dealers want you to come in and take a look at new models to get sale discounts. It applies on everything from oil, to sliders to tracks etc. I bought helmets at a huge discount too (left over stock) St Mary’s only 1 hr and 15 mins for you. I typically buy a spare belt at open house too, if I need one. This year I splurge and get DuPont sliders, since a few members here are having good luck with them.
  12. My dealer in st Mary’s usually does an open house. Discounts vary but usually 10 percent, I believe on most items, some are more. I will ask when dropping off sled next week, but might not happen this year.
  13. My partner wants to go cross country skiing too. We visited scenic caves for snow shoeing in collingwood a few times over winter and cross country ski trails there are fantastic with early snow. Sometimes open in third week of November and it’s all natural snow. See when they open this year! Too bad we didn’t have a big enough mountain for some free riding snowmobiling early too.
  14. I know , I wouldn’t do it. Just saying people are doing it. Anything to avoid day pass to get Into park. Defiantly have to have proper protocols in place to put a trail in. I expect people to respect my land and I do same for other’s.
  15. Park on side roads use bicycles to get in without paying for day. Same as what body says with people walking with canoes and kayak’s too.
  16. Lol. I know people that do that with bicycles too and pedal right in without paying for day.
  17. real sad. Looks like access is gone for another season. Hard on clubs in area. I could see lake Conestoga just folding it in, since there lands were a good part of local trail system, including access to club house. Wonder if Fergus has access again this winter or not? hailburton had issues too, but managed to get lup resolved and main trail back open north of town last season. Sounds like there are issues else where in province in east too, where it existed last year.
  18. Now I see there is a big rant in district 9 and how grca problems haven’t been resolved and they are asking for ofsc to fix problem. Looks like another stale mate in the affected areas again.
  19. Old d101b is gone which really sucks. It was a nice wide fun trail to ride to kearny. When smooth and groomed well. I really try to avoid deerhurst since all trails within a 20 km raids of place get beat up real bad. Huntsville is not sled friendly either, which is really too bad. They could put a trail in from deerhurst over to comfort inn and gas station along highway 60, so we don’t have to ride fairy lake. Hailburton is much better at welcoming sledders and having access to down town and fuel. Launching out of hail and riding north east has been good to me last few winters.
  20. X3 After 3 winters almost save enough to buy fourth winter for free, ofsc gets money early too. Last winter I waited and ended up just buying one weekend pass. I had two sleds and wasn’t sure which one would sell. Now back to one sled I get permit early again. If trails don’t open we will have bigger problems next season, no doubt.
  21. There are costs that need to get paid on a yearly basis, even if trails don’t open. Ofsc has held permit price steady for last few seasons. I will buy my permit early this year and even if I only get a few weekends in, that is ok. Covid is not ofsc’s fault either and I am sure they are encouring some extra costs because of it too. So let’s support them and hope trails can stay open for as long as Mother Nature allows them. Cheers and if it does get shut down, I would be in favour of donating 50 bucks towards land owner relations for a change. Anything to improve rider experience and keep local trails accessible.
  22. You ride fairy lake into town? Be careful on that one, has some weird currents. Never feels completely solid when I have gone across in past. Warm winter I will pass riding it, it is a dangerous lake for most part.
  23. Nice way to do it end depends on route too. I could do one day faster without rushing if I used lake of bays to Dorset and then ice trails on other side of lake of bays. Saves an easy half a day on trip if ice is good.
  24. Good thing I didn’t buy new zero turn last week. It would look like that here too if I did. Too early for snow here anyways. Crops are Maturing and drying fast we are at least 4 weeks ahead of last year. Maybe it is first signs of an early winter. Should be running beans by third week of September if dry weather holds.
  25. Lots of this, this winter. Pick a spot and get a microwave and bring frozen home made dinners. I have made lots of TV dinners with fresh garden stuff so far. I be able to carry few on sled with me if I can get a room with a microwave. I am pulling a slow mo this winter. Hopefully I can use waffle maker in morning. I would be happy with a room delivered breakfast or dinner when available. Big centres be able to get wings and pizza delivered at least.
