  1. Hi Tricky; Interesting, as I am with Desjardins and insuring a 2016 ski-doo blizzard 900 ACE the sled is $476/year. I also have my home, ATV, 2 cars and a motorcycle with them so I am getting the full multi vehicle discount where applicable, here is the breakdown in terms of the coverage. In a nut shell I carry $1M liability, Accident benefits is standard , Collision and loss or Damage( all perils with including collision $500 deductable) How does the coverage compare to yours??? I also carry a $1M personal liability policy that allows me to carry the minimum amount of auto liability on my cars and still have $1.3M liability, it's cheaper then carrying a $1M or more on each vehicle Below is my Sled insurance details. 2. Thanks Blake , I booked the Super 8 for next week. Looks like nice temps and snow there.
  3. Planning on going to Kirkland Lake this coming monday Mar 9 for 4 nights, is the Super 8 a convient place to stay in terms of Trail access, trailer parking and a place to eat dinner within walking distance. Any other recommendations that is good for my three desires. My first choise of a destination was New Liseard but the water front inn is booked up. Any input would help. Thanks Bill
  4. If I understand you correctly, I think you did very well putting on 1700 km from home considering where you live.
  5. It was just too nice a day to stay off the trails even though I broke my own rule not to "ride by myself "and "on the weekends as it is to busy for me". Rode up 37, down D to Port Sydney, back down D to 36 and went to the end of 36 for the first time. Ran into the OPP at D and 37 and asked about the accident yesterday on D, the fellow got to much "air" on one of the 7 UP's (Love that name) and did a number on himself. Good to see them out writing tickets for going off the trail at D and 37 while I was there, "What's wrong with riding in the powder" , as he explained his excuse.
  6. Just saw 2 sleds heading north on D from Greaves rd
  7. I live by the trail crossing at Graves road and Manitoba where the EMS staged, so travel D north from there and those hills can be tricky especially if you are travelling two fast and get air. If you notice at the side of the downslopes there are lots of broken pieces of sleds and crash sites so many a people have crashed on these steep hills by trying to get air or are surprized how steep they are. Last year the groomer couldn't make it up the hills as they iced up. Hope the person is ok
  8. Are trails 77 and 76 accross Lake of Bays to Dorset Safe and staked ? Anything to watch out for as I have never taken this route before?
  9. The patent # is US20150314800A1 but I could not find any other info on the patent using the US patent search web site
  10. Me too at about $145 a pair from ski-doo I am always looking for an alternative
  11. Question, I heard that if the police get you speeding within 90 feet of a road that dermit points can be held against you, from your experience with tickets did you have dermit points or was it just $ ?
  12. Have a good trip, I was sledding in Cochrane last week and the trails are in great shape, (the odd logging road detour west of Cochrane on A) , gas is $3.00 per litre at base camp, hotdog is $5 , perhaps by the time you are there the west side may be open. The fellow running the base camp will tell you the west side is open but it is still red at the top. Either way the east side is a great ride.
  13. For sale 2017 double open style tilting snowmobile trailer, maybe 500km on it (350km were in the fall). Slush shield, Fat boy tires, Caliber ski guides, traction grips, ski clamps and D rings, jack stand ,ownership. Easily Fits a 141 viper which is 10.5 feet in length. Used only to transfer my sled to the shop in winter. Located in 10 km north of Bracebridge. It is in good shape a few marks on the slush guard from ski's touching the slush guard. Reason for selling is I bought an enclosed trailer. $1700 is a fair price I feel. Email Bill.Hewitt99@gmail.com for more information
  14. Snowing hard in Bracebridge now , about 5-6 inches of new snow today, some sno-bomber trails turned yellow this morning and they will be working D north of Falkenburg road after the snow fall according Facebook
  15. I did the same as you are doing, my trailer had the ramp which was a heavy metal mesh, you must put the ski runners on the ramp or else your carbides will get caught in the mesh. At first i just used plywood with eye hooks to secure the wood to the ramp. Used two pieces of wood as the ramp was quite large and I needed to store the wood in the trailer for unloading. Eventually I put the ski runners on and that worked much better. I have since sold the trailer. BTW the trailer had a wooden 2x6 floor so securing the ski runners to the floor was easy, I used nuts and bolts with large washers to secure the ski runners to the mesh ramp. Hope that helps.
  16. I measured my first used snowmobile (a 70's 440 tnt i beleive) in $ per minute of use until the engine blew , I was $350/min, it lasted two minutes on the trail
  17. The manufacture ususally quotes theorical capacity before any guages and air locks... so this could be the difference 37 vs 40 .Getting back to the orginal question the Viper and the blizzard 900ace are roughly the same, meaning don't try and go over 240 ish km to be safe as I don't carry gas and I am unfamilar with the cochrane area trails
  18. Anyone know what the range is on an 2014 viper ?
  19. I spent 12 hours in a trail groomer riding shot gun that was packing then dragging for the first time of the year as a volunteer , it is no picnic !! especially as we had to keep getting in and out of the groomer to clear fallen trees. Can't see people paying for that. Now cat skiing out west is a different thing.
  20. Anyone going to be in Cochrane Monday Jan 20 to 23rd ?, I and a friend are going for our first time and it would be great to hook up with someone who knows the trails. Staying at the Westaway
  21. In Bracebridge there is Bracebridge Yamaha , I find the Yamaha line of cloths to be well priced , well made and warm. If your like me warmth is important , more then having matching sled and clothing brandin is nice but I ride a ski-doo but have Yamaha branded cloths, this drives some people crazy especially the local ski-doo dealer. But check out Rosseau Powersports.
  22. Rain is starting to freeze on the trees now here in Bracebridge, going to be nasty later
