  1. Thanks, I figured as much but wanted to be sure
  2. Planning some trips and wondered about the trail that used to connect Wolsley bay into the Port Loring area trails is still there? It crossed some rivers and lakes maybe thats why its not listed? I only see the TOP C on the far West on the trail map. Anyone have any info on this I havent been through there in a while
  3. Whoever is pulling these strings, please be reasonable and take pause. Just because you can, doesnt mean you should. Hoping for sensibilities to come out on top here
  4. Skandinave for a day always puts the ladies in good spirits. Downtown Collingwood for nightlife, ski the mountain etc. Can do all that by sled. NYC is always a favorite thats a days drive and filled with more amazing experiences than you can imagine if you havent been I recommend it. Art galleries, restaurants, broadway, so much to see and do. If you went for a three day tour with a 4k budget you can enjoy it reasonably well. 4K for two days your getting into the luxuries of NYC and 4K per day? Now your in the zone. The place aint cheap but it is a ton of fun. Smith and Wollensky for steaks. Plenty of good live music and nightlife to be had Washington DC is another great tour to see the national galleries and museums. Certainly worth a few days. Chicago also great eats ( deep dish pizza wow ) \ Or if your a water type look for a boat charter. Something in the 40' range and take a working tour from one of the caribbean islands to another. Incredible experience
  5. In the early days we only used the ski bar and let the back ride free. We did that for about a season because the roads were much worse back then and not cleared as well plus tires were not nearly what they are today so we often had machines shifting around and in the late 70's when we were buying brand new expensive machines for the first time? Tying down was a lot more about protecting our investment than it was about road safety. That is still what drives me today to overly secure loads. In the truck or on the trailer I try and force it to move and wont leave until the items are solidly mounted. Cant say all my straps or ropes have a sticker on them though. Sad to think stickers and labels supersede sensibilities
  6. Be smart and secure your load sensibly. If you can move it at all by hand with a couple of big dudes shoving it? Reassess and upgrade your tie downs. Check your wheel bearings annually and keep the tires pumped up. Also if you have a flat backed enclosure and snow blowing around the back covers the lic plate? You get ticketed for that
  7. Good show a bit smaller this year but people seemed to be in great spirits! Not as many vintage sleds as I would have liked to see I really enjoy eyeing those old tanks. That electric Harley was super cool looking. Still no turbo MXZ? Whaaaaaaat?

    Heavy Boots?

Ox I can relate, if only I knew real boot co's were going to fold up and turn into labels stuck on junk I would have bought a lifetime supply. I have one good pair of glaciers left and they are only for riding in dry, cold conditions. I used to wear BOSS brand rubber w felt liner similar to the Kamick ( Kamik? ) brand sold at CTC but the BOSS brand were big, wide, and considerably warmer and full rubber. My ice fishing boots. Best of all they were cheap. The Baffin wannabe replacements are 3x the price and the rubber just aint the same its been refined and the good flexi stuff has been removed or they are made out of recycled stuff I dunno but they sure dont make em like they used too Gonna have to try the Baffins out i guess
  9. Congrats! Great location I raced with Arnie many a time. Had a few heated "rule book discussions" all in good fun of course. Smart guy great builder and I wish you all the best success in the new location
  10. Thats rich. You guys pushing to eliminate the courts simply dont know your history and thats why your not grasping what happens when the rights to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence is removed we effectively have a kangaroo court system. Burn the witch comes to mind. I can't believe any of you are that ignorant of how important the courts are to our way of life and the reasons they keep us FIRST WORLD. Third world countries have rulers and dictators. Here? In the FIRST WORLD? We have ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES and a constitutional guarantee to civil rights which INCLUDE the rights to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence where the law is applied EQUALLY to all, the police, the government, and the private citizens. ALL share the same equal rights Soon as you take the EQUAL out of that? What do you get?
  11. Nonsense. Wheres the preservation of ones rights in this situation? If a person is guilty the courts will punish them accordingly. If there are no courts involved then we have to grant absolute power to the officer or officers to make this judgement and ANYONE who thinks this a wise approach is simply blind to humanity. Placing a badge on a persons hat and giving them a job to serve and protect does not immediately make this person PERFECT. Far from it We had two police officers in Niagara shoot at each other. We regularly see officers arrested for Impaired and other issues because they too ARE HUMAN and make errors just the same as all of us so no matter the instance there is NO TIME EVER where due process and a right to a trial can be eliminated. Theres simply no good argument against this at all. Justice after a trial is every bit as just as wanting an immediate judgement, and its FAR SUPERIOR too. No room for excuses, no room for abuses. Equal justice for each and everyone INCLUDING the police, they have no rights different than you or I.
  12. By them, who do you mean exactly? As for the current method of waiting for a crime to happen before an arrest is made? Do you suggest something else? Its crucial to grasp there is no them and us. Its only US. Thats it and thats all there ever will be. ALL of US have a right to a fair trial based on the presumption of innocence and the benefit of doubt. If you dont agree with that granting rights skirting powers to police to act as a judge/jury in a road side manner is NOT the way forward. Its backward. Absolute power, corrupts absolutely. We need to keep the checks and balances in play
  13. Care to explain what this means?
  14. These efforts are chipping away at our rights. The progressive policy efforts are not trying to make one big swoop and round everyone under state ownership but through a multi front attack on every position where they can inch in further. If this one falls ( as im sure it will ) there will be other attempts on other issues and the noose. Hold those who push more laws and regulations upon us to account. Every time If a policy is worth adopting, it will hold against intense scrutiny. If it does not? Its not worth adopting
  15. There was some junk out there and that junk is long long gone. Policy is counter productive now because its way safer to run a 3500 series truck under loaded than it is to run a 1500 maxed out but 3500 series needs yellow sticker, insurance is higher and MTO targets you. Three times loser land to run a heavy duty truck for personal use. Why on earth? Plus if the MTO and OPP were decent about it and not such obnoxious know it alls who say "I dont care about that" or "that doesnt matter because" to every point of reason I dont think this would be much of an issue. They literally INVENT reasons to charge truck/trailer owners and always hand out three or more fines. This is no joke, no easy thing to deal with and a giant time suck not to mention morale killer. There is little to no win and a lot of grief to the people trying to move around. The yellow sticker is a target for abuse especially if your a land scaper or operate anywhere near a yard. Look out its open season. I always liked the surge hydraulic brakes. reliable, and work on any tow vehicle.
  16. Its simple and unfortunate but this is ALLLLLLL about money, and that alone is what is driving these changes. Initially the concept of "those guys have money to play, so they must have money to PAY to play" was taken in earnst approx 15-20 years ago by the transport related bureaucracies, all of them. These types GUTTED the grass roots economy and BURIED the province in historically high debt. Over 1 billion per month now in interest payments alone and guess who gets that billion dollars? BIG BUSINESS the very evil so many on the so called compassionate left seem to hate yet they feed the BIGGEST OF THEM ALL. The bank. We need to mobilize our economy and scale it up and the more people we can engage in meaningful EXPENSIVE past times such as snowmobiling the better for all. This sensibility has rung home HARD because the news may not be screaming about debt panic, rest assured we ARE in a debt panic and the only way out of it is to see the private sector pay sclae up, WAYYYYY UP and the public sector pays need to do one of two things; 1. scale down 2. freeze Option one the pain will get over with quickly because business investment will flow and things will rebound quickly and so long as we use the inflated cash flow to push the debt back 10-20 years we will be solid again. Think ripping off bandaid vs slow peel Option 2 will take a lifelong process of flat lined growth and declining returns which will drive mediocrity into a long game. 30-60 years its a tough slog and how we are now is as good as it will get while America runs off ahead, we will stay at idle. There is a third option. Thats keep increasing the debt and that end? Take a look at Detroit or watch the big short because NO ONE will get out of that policy alive and well. I am for option 1 btw. Lets just take the hit, suck it up, fix the math and draft regulations to prevent this from happening again. As for the MTO? Aint never going to be anything perfect. EVER. Not the cars on the road, or the policy that tries to keep people safe. Lifes a risk and no one gets out alive. Lets make ours perform well, and do our best to improve productivity, fun, and compassion for those who get hurt along the way.
  17. Long over due. The MTO has been off the rails for some time now. The real shame is that policy that was supposed to make the roads safer such as CVOR and whatnot not only caused more accidents, but also drove most owner/operator transport truck drivers out of business. A double loss
  18. Back on track here think about this; Police now need NO REASON to stop ANY CAR AT ANY TIME so long as they say they want to test/check for drugs or alcohol use. So every single stop will CERTAINLY involve this as SOP so the cops now have super powers to use against the public with no recourse for the public at any time because its been Trudoped into law. This is by very definition a POLICE STATE now and we simply MUST FIGHT this idiocy. Yet at the same time cops can no longer question a person who looks suspect ( anti carding policy ) yet all drivers are screwed. Why? Drivers have money, thugs DO NOT. Plus drivers are safe easy targets. Gun toting drug dealers are dangerous and now the cops no longer have to bother, the law "PROTECTS THE COPS FROM WORKING AT THIS" or er ahhh umm aah ahh ahh a Trudope says its about preventing discrimination. How about them murders? Record year right after carding banned. Coincidence? You tell me
  19. 1. There is no secret information i am unsure why you would think that? It breaks down like this; There was a bad crash involving multiple cars and a fatality The initial police reports to the media suggested it was because of street racing This ran heavy and hard on page one in numerous publications for weeks Some weeks after it was THEN reported buried in the middle of news releases and very briefly that the driver who was killed, was impaired, and TURNED IN FRONT of the so called racers who denied there was any racing, they were speeding but it wasn't crazy speed it was a head on around 90kmh iirc The judge who handled the case in the end let the so called racers walk with house arrest because the BS involved was SO INTENSELY WRONG Yet the public still remembered "street racing" and now we have a law where the cops can use total power of judge/jury on the side of the road if your going 50kmh over the limit your screwed with no due process which is a constitutional violation. 2. The timeline shows the police used a highly controlled informatiion release process using the media to ramp an agenda through and the public got screwed as a result. The money kinda stands out as the goal here. This is a very interesting process because it negatively impacts EVERYONE in Canada as a result. The price of these ridiculous constituional skirting laws will end up making Canada a much worse place and the dumbasses who pass these laws? Really ought to speak with Micheal Bryant about it. He was integral as the AG passing the street racing laws back then and what is he doing now? Check it out https://nationalpost.com/opinion/chris-selley-michael-bryant-at-the-ccla-an-unlikely-man-for-an-unlikely-job Thank you for asking clear questions I will explain further if need be please ask I dont mind
  20. I can. Some years ago when the marketing efforts of passing the new "street racing" laws came into the public eye there was a fatal crash in the North end of Richmond Hill. The media, police and ALL the public information on the case pointed the finger solely at street racing as the fatal cause and the stories were deep, and blatant. Not a single mention of the fact that the driver of the family car who was killed was 2x plus over the legal alcohol limit, nor was there a mention that he turned left into oncoming traffic which caused the crash. The political will of using this "case" to increase the police state of judge/jury powers to the police on the road side was blatant. I have ALL the news articles saved in print, I've been watching this slowly creep up our backsides for years and it IS NOT GOOD! I dont drink either but these new police powers ARE NOT GOOD and a complete violation of our legally guaranteed RIGHTS! Think about it. Im a father, no drinker, non smoker and my main concern is with POLICE POWERS????? If someone like me is upset what in the damn hell kind of dumb is pushing for this to happen? How about that carding? Cant target supsicious activity anymore and police no longer allowed to even ASK QUESTIONS. But if you drive a car legally? You can be stopped asked anything and FORCED to take drug tests etc. TOTALLY AFTER THE MONEY AND THE TAXPAYER AND NOT A DAMN THING TO DO WITH REAL CRIME!!!!!! I dont trust the medias reporting on impaired driving stats either. Why? How many of those accidents would happen to completely sober people in the same circumstances? Most.
