  2. Banks washed out on A108. Looked to be a major issue. That may not open this season. From the pics that were posted 1/2 the trail is missing.
  3. 2:00 PM Saturday. Still rain in Peterborough. Anyone in Bancroft, Barry's Bay, Cloyne, etc? How did cottage country fair so far. Are we getting snow or rain now?
  4. Mattawa Golf and Ski Pine Valley Resort Morning Mist Resort
  5. 12" of snow and your'd be good to go on some trails. Lakes are freezing well and there is a marginal amount of snow on the ground that has a hard crust to it.
  6. http://www.rentsnowmobile.com/rentals/snowmobile/ Not Cochrane, but close.
  7. Anybody heard if they are logging in there this winter? Any chance the trail will be open?
  8. Mistakingly found out last winter that my wife's renegade (900 ace) runs dry at 260 kms. My blizzard (also 900 ace) made the next 5 km to get to the fuel stop and still had more to go. No interest in pushing this game any further. Not fun when it just quits on you.
  9. I have the same truck. Do you find you are fighting pulling over hills, etc with the TC167? I have been very happy pulling the Elite with 2 sleds in tow. Hardly even know it's there the vast majority of the time. Wondering if this is worth the expense. Only complaints with the elite is it can be a fight to load sleds on icy surfaces. Skis hit the deck and everything stops. Also a foot of wet snow on the roof really sucks when it occurs.
  10. Sorry meant 101" wide by 11' long.
  11. Which would be more efficient fuel wise and easier to pull? A 7' wide TC 167 or an 11' wide 2KF on a 2 place Triton Elite. Is there much difference between the two? I'm kinda interested in making the jump from my clamshell setup to the TC 167, but am curious on what the extra weight will mean for the towing fuel bill's.
  12. This is nothing new. It's a touch more involved than that I suspect.
  13. Still lots of open water there. No real surprise. It's typically 3rd week of January before it's safe. It's a big and deep body of water. 30 below tonight might freeze it over though. Once that occurs the depth of the ice will grow in short order if it stays cold
  14. Guess they will need to build a new trail for the recreational trail users. With billions in the budget it shouldn't be a hurdle. This is the Trans Canada Trail afterwards. Can't see the federal gov't cutting it up without a fix. Definitely time to write the MP's though and make our voices heard.
  15. Only way to know is to go cut a hole and check yourself. My bet is for a little bay on Wollastin the answer would be yes. That said don't know the specific location so can't say for sure. Like one person said the big part of Chandos is wide open. Good chance our little bay on Chandos will be safe with 6" - 8" by new years. I'd say 65% of the time we do have good ice in our bay by x-mas. It frooze over about 2 weeks ago and there is more 20 below coming. The big part of the lake will still be the 2nd week of January at best if the cold sticks around. Wollastin is probably a similar story. Pack your skates, an axe and a tape measure and find out when you get there.
  16. Couple miles north of Lance's store the trail and road cross a fairly big bridge over the river. There is a plowed lot there that I saw guys parking in. Anyone know if that's public property? Can I leave my rig there for a few days while out riding? If not there does anyone know where you can stage from in the Swisha area?

  18. I do applaude anyone locally that is looking at this. It would be a great thing. I would definately go visit and ride the loop
  19. Why bother with Hornepayne? Just get a link from Marathon through Manitouwadge to Longlac and maybe a local loop in the Manitouwadge area for locals. That should be enough. If one lesson from the past should be learned it's not to overdo it. What gets put in place needs to be sustainable. Curious to see if there is any local support. Will the help and the sale of 50 trail permits occur in Manitouwadge. The town has to actually want this to ever make it a success.

  21. You can buy them either way. 2 models available. One for sleds with passenger hand guards and one for sleds without.
  22. Yep those are knock offs of the ski doo design. The doo muffs are well thought out and work well. Use them all the time in all conditions. Never have cold hands anymore.
  23. I actually ordered one myself yesterday. Should be in the mail. Thanks for the offer though.
  24. Thanks guys. Some great info here.
