    How was the E, 605, 606, etc....
  2. x2....there is lots at play with so much that has created a very sad state of affairs. I try not to think too much about it, but at times, it is hard and frustrates the hell out of me, I cannot believe how people are approaching this and what is going on, it is nuts. But than again those on the flip side will say the same about my outlook or those with similar ones.....which one is lesser of two evils though..............
  3. Well that is not helping their case. I remember seeing a video of a hill in Europe somewhere with the Police all over the hill enforcing the rules.
  4. The type of business they are in, they need to hope for the best take advantage when they can, especially the climate we live in as of last many years. I am hopeful they can open for Feb, their busiest month usually and go in April. There has be a light at the end, somewhere.....
  5. There is little to no new snow, if they do not make and stock pile, when they can open, they will have not much making for poor conditions, so I can see why they are doing this.....plus as mentioned, you know they are getting some relief from all of us whether some of us like it or not (tax money).
  6. Reducing injuries makes sense, but that same argument can be used for sledding, driving or workplace accidents. Accidents happen in all these areas, I honestly have no idea the numbers, but I would think ski hill accidents cannot be that high, I know we usually do not see many when we go......but if you have more higher risk activities, greater chances for sure for more accidents to happen. But we have all these hospitals for a reason as well that come at a very big price tag that we all pay for and I think not all of them are seeing the same higher numbers either.
  7. You are outside so no mask needed but many wear something over their face anyways and only ride chair lift with your family unit, hence the longer lift lines. That was the rule for our ski group IF we were hitting the hills, plus a bunch of others until the lock down crap happened and ended that. Edit....Here is what was shared with us regarding the mask: Masks 1. Both staff and guests will be required to wear masks or face coverings at all times in lift lines, loading the chair, riding on the chair, unloading from the chair, within buildings and are recommended when walking on the property. Appropriate masks and face coverings are defined as any double layer material that covers the nose and mouth adequately. Please make sure your Balaclava does not have a mouth hole. Due to the mandated face coverings, lift corrals can remain the same. Guests will be asked to ride only with the people they have arrived with (your bubble), no guest will be forced to ride with a stranger. 2. Please be mindful and avoid gathering less than 2m apart at Trail Maps, Intersections, Parking Lots and lesson flags. 2m is the approximate length tip to tail of adult skis. 3. We strongly encourage guests to respect the environment by bringing their own reusable face coverings (eg cloth mask, bandana, neck tube). We may have reusable masks for sale at the Boutique should you require an extra one. We suggest you bring a couple for each person in case they get wet or soiled.
  8. Lmao, reread what I typed and that’s funny!
  9. The water in Scugog make people do some odd things.... If cannot remove it, cut it off or hammer it further in......at least put a pylon over it in the mean time.
  10. Yep, but they will finally be right one of those weeks....
  11. Seeing her with the update, makes it more plausible....
  12. Skiing could have easily been left open, just means might be a longer line for the chair lift due to "social distancing", but if you have a face covering, which most would anyways, that is limiting the spread as well. Minimize even more the number of people getting rentals at one time. Keep the chalet closed or provide a drive thru type window for people wanting to order food from outside. And bathroom use is limited by numbers, even plop a Johnny on the spot or two outside. What else is there really.....
  13. Don’t put any stock into forecast more than a few day out. Warm spells have been the norm last few years, as depressing as it is, it usually doesn’t impact the north all that much.... just sucks having to drive to ride.

This is a valid point, but honestly to compare the two activities, is not a very strong argument, IMO. They are very different in my mind when you consider the possible interactions while doing both. And I think ski hills should be open personally, with rules in effect.

Agree 100%.....ON is way to soft on the some rules broken regarding sledding. Now I like that the speeding fine is soft of course...........

And that is the "recommendation" not to travel between, if you choose too, that is up to you. If there is a road, trail, path, etc....they should be maintained like any other year. Enforce what is enforceable, when it applies. OFSC is paid to provide trails when conditions are available to do so for those that have paid for a permit......not make decisions on a district or club level when they might not want to groom or open a trail. Let enforcement enforce the current bylaws in effect surrounding people gathering in groups larger than allowed, not wearing a mask, etc.... I guess this belongs in "rant of the day".....

Noticed a fair number of trucks/trailers/sleds on the move this morning when out grabbing my coffee! Good to see people getting out enjoying what they can.

Blackstar asked one of the OPP guys on another forum that offers great feedback on many questions the same question and this was his response to being stopped by OPP: "Great question... we encourage all people to abide by their local health unit and provincial guidelines. While there is a strong encouragement to avoid non essential travel there is no legislation outright banning travel. I've not heard of any checkpoints turning people around nor is there legislation to support that. I know the OFSC has talked about trail closures based on covid numbers but they've yet to implement that. I can say we will be more strict about laying charges for riding on closed trails this year. Regardless of the reason for closure the rider will receive a trespass ticket.. $65. This was happening with or without covid. Expect little or no tolerance for trail cans and aftermarket exhaust as well. Landowners have spoken loud and clear. Excess noise = no trails. Regardless of personal thoughts towards the cans...I'd rather have trails to ride on!! Hopefully this is a safe, fun and long season! Sadly we already a fatality in Eastern Ontario." And then he went on to say: "We have not told anyone to turn around nor have we been directed to do so. The main covid issues we seem to deal with are "large gatherings" Many of you will remember several years ago when people were saying charges were being laid for trailer hitches sticking out without trailers attached. Simply not true. There's always a group that likes to create that divide and spreads misinformation. This is no different. "
  19. I like to watch the ON Covid numbers lately, just to see what they look like as I imagine they are partly used when deciding on lock down, school closures, etc....., and today they are at 4200.....I think the highest so far. I do not put a lot of weight into what the numbers are, but for the sake of the folks that do and make decisions surrounding them, sure would be nice to see them start to decrease......but maybe that is not possible given the testing being done and the time of year i.e. other flu strains, etc......
  20. So you or others are willing to take the chance that you might not run into one that is, knowing how easy renewing can be be done now a days, all because a piece of paper did not come in the mail . They come in all shapes, sizes and walks of life....just never know when you might bump into one.
  21. QC has school back in Monday as well, but they also now have the curfew in effect...8 to 5 I believe. I was surprised that school is back but they increased the lock down rules......good to hear school is back over there though, too bad we could not follow suit...
  22. And kids now stay home until Jan 25 instead of back to school Jan 11.....
  23. I think you are correct, which is why the fines are different (flat fee) i.e. speeding, no stunt charges, etc...... As far as private property, parking lots, etc.....cops have very limited control here to enforce much. There is a reason you want to avoid parking lot accidents as much as possible..... I recently talked to a cop parked at my kids school, asked him why he was there, he said to make sure all get to school safe and good for kids to see police so not afraid. I asked him then why he does not enforce U-turns in front of the school creating safety issues or people running stop signs out front. He said he cannot enforce people running stops sign on school/private property, I said not that one, the one right by the school..... The next day the officer is back and I see he now has a person pulled over on the street... And if I want to let my kids drive my old truck, car, sled, etc....on my property, nothing you or the police can do about that.

I believe the announcement is later today.....talks of a curfew and decreasing the essential biz list even smaller..... They were already in "lock down" for all non essential biz....like Ontario, but there's started before us.
  25. LMAO on the bold. FYI...I was able to get my sticker for my truck at a center early Nov. I am afraid the complication/difficulties for things like this, that should be much easier/straight forward, will not go away, it is now the "norm"..... I think it is good for job security in certain fields of work though. Plus there is a saying, do not believe all you read on the net.....only about half of it is true, at best.....lol
