  1. Finding it hard to believe video supplied to police isn’t helpful in them pursuing a lead….assuming video is useable quality. Otherwise, there are other avenues people can and will take with that same evidence.
  2. Issue with 3rd party labour coming in as well, are they good, what are their skill levels, do dealers want this? What is stopping a dealer from letting the owner that is mechanically inclined, doing the recall themselves if parts are provided? I know this is a liability, but I know in the past, I was given the opportunity to do the work myself on a recall - likely a judgement call between the dealer and the person that they know personally and trust.
  3. LOL - or care when speed is of the essence to get in & get out. I recall this topic last year, did these tags only work within a certain range of your smart phone too?
  4. Do you or have you considered a camera to view the trailer at cottage that will also act as a greater deterrent I would think? Other cottagers perhaps in the area that can keep an eye on things too, whether it be unfamiliar cars or people in the area, etc.... A nice set of bolt cutters can also make quick work of most locking systems - sadly if the thieves want it, it is gone, but you can always make it a bit harder & longer for them to steal your stuff.
  5. That would be impressive, if true!
  6. This downturn is what will help correct the prices and bring things back to or closer to some sort of normal, whatever that normal will now be - sadly, but it is long overdue. I do not know if people that I see or talk too are just good at covering things up regarding financial hardships, but I have personally not talked to anyone that is seeing that yet - I know most will likely cover that up for as long as possible, but the increased expenses each month are not small & have got to hurt many.
  7. Always try to park in such a way that it makes it hard to remove or steal trailer if I am parked in one spot for an extended period - back to back trailers or reversed against something. Not always possible, so adding a lock is some nice added insurance or piece of mind. Now how about those catalytic converters - how are you going to secure those....lol
  8. The newer coats with the colder ratings do not seem to be as puffy or heavy as the older ones, IMO - I bought a new FXR coat last year with a liner and floatation technology, surprising how light & loose it feels. I still layer my clothes under it based on the temps of the day.
  9. I am with ya - I just open vents, zippers or remove a layer of clothes, etc.... I find there are far fewer warm days than cold days that I ride in - after all it is a winter sport....lol
  10. Tides are and will change, bad for business to keep dumping on the hands that feed you.
  11. Normally, no - exchange rates have gone up and down for many years, same as materials really. So many companies/distribution/manufactures are taking advantage of this in the last 12 to 24 months, eventually it needs to stop.....most business' will not stop until there is push back though of course. Flip side is, I am sure there is another buyer that will take your trailer - assuming that scenario still exists with the trailers & demand. Push comes to shove, meet them half way perhaps.
  12. I’m hoping we don’t see an early cold snap/winter like conditions….it usually turns into a flop of a start to actual winter and riding late Jan….
  13. Wow, that is excessive.
  14. Same here, no issues that I can recall. Last year we actually didn’t run into any of them on our trip. But I can see why the partial or temp permits would get scrutinized more….typically suggests that I’m not a local and to validate the dates…lol.
  15. Ya, I thought about the west after I posted above too actually - pretty sure there are a few guys on here that did that and posted about the adventure. IDK, but I think running a rental in the mountains wouldn’t feel the same as running through the trails/bush.
  16. Ya, agreed. The renting would be the exception for sure due to certain circumstances. I’ve rented long ago before I got into sledding, it wasn’t a comfortable feeling being on something that wasn’t yours and the potential damage situation. Friends have rented a few times last few years and this worries them. I actually ended up buying my current sled mostly due to a rental my brother had due to breakdown of his sled on a trip that I rode for a bit….so there’s one good point..lol
  17. When it was mentioned first about flying into Cochrane I was curious if that was even possible since I thought it would be odd, so did a quick search and I’m sure something popped up from Toronto, which surprised me. Than I wondered if winter was an option so entered Jan date and all that I came up with was Timmins. Perhaps added expense in winter for up keep do not make it worth while…. Did not look any further….than saw comments on here about same thing and I guess I wasn’t the only person wondering the same thing…lol
  18. Going to state the same, no Cochrane in the winter, but looks like you can other times of the year. Timmins to Cochrane isn’t far on sled, so close enough!
  19. Look at you guys, early bird gets the worm…or perhaps something else..lol.
  20. But you have/had a sled?!?!? I was not expecting a place that rented sleds in Cochrane.
  21. Funny you mention skis….I ended up buying Curve skis, was vey impressed with them as well, but the culprit was alignment and sucking up strap for more ski pressure, no shock adjustment was giving me the ski pressure needed. Strap adjustment is generally the last suspension item I’ll touch after all else fails. No poking intended to me, just different perspectives on things that work or don’t work for some based on what outcome they are looking for 👍.
  22. It can be frustrating and make you loose all confidence going into corners. My PC was a high county, so more off trail than on trail set up - I remember trying all sorts of things to get it to my liking from day one, the two major issues that sled had causing it was bad ski alignment and limiter strap too loose.
  23. Lol, yep….the cheap Ontario pass making it an easy pill to swallow, for some…. Definitely nice if your group all commits - seems to be an issue for us when we plan, everyone is guns a blazing months before until date is closer, than start dropping like flies….lol If I recall, 355 last year was closed during week for logging, open weekends - but I’d imagine unless they receive a dump of snow on Friday, trail conditions may suck on weekends. We avoided it last year because of that.
  24. Very nice!! Do you also buy an ON trail pass on top of the QC & NB passes? Impressive that your group are all already firmed up for these rides! Trail 355 in QC this year not going to be an issue or not sure yet? It was only open part time last year.
