Maybe I'm completely wrong but........There is no water hole on that stretch of trail. I've rode it many times. Its 3-4 corn fields that are on high ground and then you hit the railbed that is open. Same deal last year. The water hole is on the west side of #6 from what I remember and that's why that side is always slow to open.

I drove up to Durham today. Going through Alma I noticed that the groomer had been through to trail at the road crossing. Coming home later today, I noticed that the trail had been staked at the road crossing with Closed signs. I'm talking 3 stakes in the trail with the closed sign on the middle one. That's how you show people that the trail is closed.

Get there early. That parking lot was jammed full of trucks and trailers today.

Some good some bad around Durham. Over all it’s good for early riding. Won’t be much of it left after the weekend though. Looking at the 14 day forecast on TWN. They have limited snow, no storms. Looks like they expect winds to bring lake effect from the 15th on in traditional snowbelts. Won't help us here much district 9 and the Muskokas maybe. Snow predictions that far out almost never come true.

Going to head up tomorrow morning. Expectations are set very low. Might be more time in the truck then the sled but I don't see conditions getting better for at least a month. We'll chance it on one ride just to scratch the itch then put them away until things get better.

I rode with a Nolan modular for over 10 years until I bought my Oxygen last year. Nolan stopped producing the electric shields or I would still be wearing it as its the best helmet I've ever had. The Oxygen works great, although I miss the modular at trailside stops. Not sure what the balaclava comments are as I've never worn one.with any helmet. I do ride with the shield open a crack a fair amount of the time though. It needs some vents. I miss the communicators in my Nolan too. I need to add something to the Oxygen for wife rides.

I see Mount Forest has opened some of their trails. I seen on Facebook that Palmerston is hoping to open shortly. Post up if you go for a ride. I hope to go maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

The Chimo we are talking about, I would think, was built in the 70's or 80's. No doubt. A tough place to eek out a living. The Chimo is what it is.

It has to be more than 20 years old. I stayed there in 2004 and it was a mess then. Cracks in the block walls, no heat in some of the rooms, the advertised hot tub hadn't worked in ages. etc.

Fantastic. Something you and your son will remember for a life time. Bringing back memories for me. Took my son to Cochrane for March Break when he was 14. Stayed at Lillabelle Lake. We seen a Timber wolf on 144 on the way up along with a Bobcat. He had a great time playing with the dog at the motel. Now he's 28 and won't move out of my basement. Enjoy. Time flies.

I went to the one on Lexington in Waterloo. I was in and out in 3 minutes with my 5 tags. 3 clerks and only a few people coming in.They were still open on Saturdays before the latest restrictions and if Google is correct, they are open this Saturday.

I did the same. Got the sled Val tags online, got the work truck tags at the Service Ontario office because they won't allow you to buy tags for vehicles with GVRW's over 3000kgs. I don't think they can close the offices completely due to servicing the auto dealers and commercial vehicles operators.
