Sadly I can not make Ottawa this fall for the AGM as I would like to hear how other districts dealt with the beloved/hated Frame Work For Change. I've heard rumours of some minor tinkering to it occurring this fall.

So..please try and stay on track, constructive in your comments and lets discuss this years AGM

It is kind of like being married.  We haven't been told what to think yet. :icon_cankick:

I don't think anybody has it figured out yet, except for maybe Greg. I think that is why the federation is holding meetings with districts, getting initial feed back. Really, I feel there is far more important decisions to be made at district levels. They are holding a "best practice recomendation" period at agm, so we can share successes we found at club and district levels. I am interested to hear what George from Osgood has to say, they have been very successful over the years, and I feel that group has a fair bit to share.

One thing we are looking at is the 2 year proposal for permit prices. In the proposal, by 15/16 is online only, no local sales. I am skeptical about that component.

Wildman, the proposal for 2015-2016 is for all sales pre-Dec 1 to be on-line only. After Dec 1 permits would be available locally and on-line as per current practice. I see this negatively impacting a lot of local relationships with dealers, hotels etc. I understand the benefits to on-line sales in terms of reduced volunteer workload, improved data capture etc. Just don't think it needs to be a rigid as it is proposed.

Not sure online only is a viable solution. Although it is fine for me and many others there are also a lot of people who based upon either choice, geographic location and internet availability or simply the cost of internet particularly in their area would be unable to acquire the permit online. Essentially we would be discouraging and alienating a segment of permit buyers.

I agree O2 except that I believe the permit sales sites (dealer, hotel, etc) should have an opinion. Some may be happy to not have to deal with it and some may be outraged that they don't get to sell permits to their clients.

I think many of our vendors see selling permits as a drawing card to get people in their doors.  Many walk out with more than their permit in their hands.

We had repercussions last year when permits were not in the vendors hands until after November 1.

I agree with O2. I have many friends who don't have an computer for various reasons. We need to keep selling permits at the Club Supporters doors for these people. Many times I have been at a Club Supporters door to buy a trail pass when I think ohh... I should get a spare belt or spare plugs.  Its a win win situation for both parties in my eyes.
