    • As for the rest of this, I appreciate this side of the coin, may not always like it in life generally, but there are processes, policies, etc...put in place as safety nets, avoid exposure, law suits, liabilities, and so on......
    • Everything's mashed potatoes here right now, some cold and fresh snow will bring it right back. Maybe ok tomorrow, but I'm thinking it will defiantly be good again by Friday.
    • Was not my point, it was that the OFSC has paid staff, that some will see in a different light as a result, set expectation, etc.... which turns to blame and so on....because it was noted as the "paid body" earlier. Not about a paid person swaying things this way or that, corruption, etc.....could it exist, sure, does it, I hope not.
    • No one in a paid position at the OFSC has a vote of any kind, including to set policy. For paid people with votes look to the districts clubs, still some of those positions playing on both sides of the fence since they hold exec/board positions and still get paid to groom, equip storage, trail work ... ect.       Lets look at the actual facts ....    Club starts falling behind maintaining trails, after several seasons riders start to notice.     Club not as responsive to offers of help as it could be for whatever reason.  Some reach out to the district which also seems of little help. Some reach out to the OFSC who really cannot do anything other then enforce policy made by the membership.    District and club both fail to remain members in good standing of the OFSC by not following Ontario Not for Profit legislation, which does effect the org as a whole and jeopardizes every district and clubs operations and can lead to criminal charges.    OFSC Board acts as directed by the membership to suspend operations of any club or district not operating within Federal and Provincial laws and/or OFSC By - Laws, neither had shown the ability to correct these issues before annual membership renewal.     A group of riders not associated with any club want to revive the club, which entails handing over the keys of a $200,000+ piece of equip and an annual operational budget of over $100,000. All with zero training or proof that they truly have skin in the game, and the knowledge to do all this safely and in accordance with all federal and provincial laws, and OFSC bylaws.     OFSC board suggests that this group speak to neighbouring club and see if they are willing assume some of these trails and direct and support those wanting to revive those trails on how to do it. Other clubs within the same district are consulted and vote whether they want to support this as it also has a financial burden on the district.    District and club give the green light that they are willing to do this, the OFSC board has several meetings to make the call on whether to approve this as per OFSC by laws as it required an amendment to a previous motion.    Orillia club now has some of those riders wanting to revive those trails on their exec, approvals and plans are in motion to start by reopening 2 main arteries that were removed.     Those are the facts .... who's at fault ??  And how fast do most think this could of even happened ?    In this case I totally agree with how this was handled by the board, other directions the board has taken not so much.
    • I know your history and have followed your posts for years back to hardcore sledder and freedom sledder and I believe there was another forum also.   In my opinion and the opinion of many others trails should never have been abandoned in the manner they were!    There was obviously a considerable amount of community support and local volunteers ready to step up.      Let’s hope for cold and snow.
