In Ontario they definitely do not pick up sleds. Quebec is hit or miss. This time it was a miss when we called with a sled that needed a pick up. We called back with my card and and said we had a small trailer that had a wheel bearing out of it and needed a flat bed. The driver asked where the trailer was and we pointed to the sled. By that time he already had a PO to pick up a trailer and he didnt really care what he was hauling. He would not take my buddy to RDL even though CAA RV will give you 1 400km tow per year. He said he didnt have time but would take him to Amqui no problem. Dropped him off at Enterprise and carried on his way.
Agreed, the ones you can buy are way too much, he used the grab bar on the viper last year, it wasn’t the best but it worked and was free. I’ll post the details over in the technical forum for the grips.
We spent the morning getting in some more winter fun. I brought home my sons 120 yesterday, too much snow on our property and not enough on the road. He was able to ride around his school yard this morning. He had fun riding over snow mounds left by the plow.
Haha. I had been avoiding talking about that trip but will give you the short story long version.
4 of us drove 1100kms to Riviere du Loup a couple of weeks ago. Perfect drive all the way. Made it to Hotel Universal at 4pm on the Monday.
Our plan was to ride to Pointe A La Croix on Tuesday (380kms) and then have 4 easy 250kms days.
Unfortunately a couple of guys on the trip were a little excited and smashed their sleds up on Day 1. The 1st incident just caused cosmetic damage but the sled could still finish the trip albeit with some serious battlescars on it. About 5kms later my buddy yard saled his brand new 900XRS after hitting an icy ridge left on the trail from the groomer. His sled suffered trip ending damage and unfortunately, our trip was over. He got CAA to take his sled to Amqui the next day where he rented a truck and took the sled back to RDL. The rest of us rode back to Rimouski where he met us with the truck and trailer around 10pm that night. We loaded up on Thursday am and headed home with our tails between our legs.
Bummer as there was a lot of time/work involved with organizing a trip like this.
