This sucks. I understand why the no refunds policy exists in the FCMQ and the OFSC has a very similar policy. I suspect you would get a similar reply from OFSC. That said this is an unprecedented situation. I'd try calling once more. Couple thoughts if you do end up getting a no again. - once they go down this road where do they stop? What's to stop season permit buyers from claiming they didn't get full use of their permit and then demand a refund. Fact is by this time in the season the vast majority of funds have been spent. Definately all of the seasonal permit funds. The fcmq staff would be concerned to not open this pandora's box up. - do go to Abitibi next winter. I pretty much guarantee in a normal year you will feel you get double your money's worth riding in that area. Ontario is great, but the trails up there are unmatched. - your money went to a non profit organization that will make great use of it. If I had to pick something to donate too organised snowmobiling would be at the top of my list
  3. Totally agree. That said its clear proof of what works. Stop ahead signs almost all riders slow down for. Slow signs get ignored by too many.
  4. I think trail riders have no interest in ever having to pull their sleds over. With shot first start of the day is still a hand pull. Trail riders will carry the extra 5 lbs with them to never have to pull start. Also shot only works on 2 strokes. Still a great product for the mountain market.
  5. Intersection wasn't signed as an all way stop was it?
  6. Guess Craig was right on this one eh guys???
  7. Check out this new idea from BRP. https://sledmagazine.com/actions/page?docId=11734&ctx=ctx&theAction=&p=Ski-Doo\'s New Product for 2021&request_locale=en For Those with Oxygen helmets this simplifies things. Great idea.
  8. Looking forward to the responses on this. Planning to get one myself next season. I can tell you I borrowed one about 10 years ago for a ride. Found it very comfortable. I'd say no to a jacket size change. It basically replaces a sweatshirt then you ride in just a t-shirt under it. I don't recall it being clammy, but that was a long time ago. Would love some first hand knowledge. The one I wore had a built in neck curtain that was part of the vest. Kinda like a turtle neck. I thought it worked well. The arms were cut good and low which allowed lots of movement.
  9. Dam birch trees. Camouflaged in the winter months.
  10. Riding with kids TORS does nothing if they grab the throttle and takeoff by mistake. With the tether on me the sled has to be shut off before I walk away from it. Nice to see so many on here are wearing them. It's a habit and a good one I'd encourage all riders to adopt. Also means you wont loose your key at your lunch stop. Good points on the tek vests. I think I'm going to start wearing one next winter.
  11. Who actually wears theirs? Seen a lot of videos lately of sleds on their sides with tracks running wide open and the driver scrambling back to shut their sled off after they have fallen off. I don't get it. They are put there for a reason. Why not wear it? Could save yourself or someone else from getting seriously hurt.
  12. Theory on the full tank is there is no room left in the tank for condensation to build up in (temp and humidity changes that occur over the summer). Old gas with no water in it is better than new gas with water in it. That's the theory anyways. Definately want premium fuel and a good stabilizer in there regardless of which theory you subscribe to. Kinda like do I change the 4 stroke oil now or in the fall. Both arguments have merit. I fill the tank full, but leave the oil to change in the fall provided I don't find any moisture on the dipstick when I check in the spring.
  13. Say it's not so. Too early for this thread.
  14. Well put. I'd say give the renegade 137" track a chance though. I have my wife on a 2014 900 ace renegade (137") and I have a 2016 900 ace blizzard (129"). To be perfectly honest hers handles and rides better. I get why they went to the 137" tracks. They do everything and more that the old 121" units did. That said the fuel tank is a big draw back. Why drop 5 liters of capacity? Having close to 300 km of range was a big selling point on the 2014 - 2018 900 ace units. Once I heard no 4 stroke from Polaris I didn't even bother to look at their website or the new lineup. They are way behind the ball. Can you believe they also don't put tether cords on their sleds as standard equipment. Major safety item there.
  15. These are getting close. Get the range up to 250 km and then it's on par (maybe better) with every gas powered sled on the market. Charging infrastructure is being built. Not as fast as needed, but it's coming if you do your homework. There is more chargers available than most would realise. I think the watercraft makes a lot of sense for cottagers on inland lakes (ie. Ontario cottage country).
  16. How about a 120 hp four stroke for the touring market. Time they got with the program.
  17. How much ice is there in the middle of the lake?
  18. This new gauge package does look interesting. Connects to your phone through an app so it can run navigation. I think they are onto something. Will be interesting to see how it works with the ITG and imotoneige apps.
  19. No it crosses on the bridge which explains why it's closed. I expect it won't open this winter
  20. I was through there on the 5th and it was a mogul field at that point.
  21. That bridge makes sense. It will be closed all winter.
  22. It's an old Hastings trail. Not Paudash. Probably best to call the club. I doubt there is any ice issues. The stake line is in from what I know. Chandos is late to freeze, but once its froze it is very safe to ride.
  23. We always ran further up the lake to the Rabbitt trail. Never that close to the bridge / open water. Is the stake line installed where you have it marked?
