Still on the fence. I intend to ride, but not sure of the location. Skidoo in shop now for mid-season service. -
I'm out of sledding effective today. It's been a great winter, but I'm getting too old for this sport. Slomo is buying my 550 Polaris as a retirement present for his wife. He's overlooking the questionable fuel economy, and wants to get back to a good old two stroke machine. Nunz will be picking up my 1200 Ski-Doo on the weekend. Age has finally caught up with him, I guess. No more two strokes in his future. Sledjunk has finally capitulated and made the move to Cat. He'll be picking up my ZR9000 on his way home from Cochrane. I never thought I'd say it, but I'm sick of sledding, and will probably be going south next winter. Mark this date on your calendar.

Weekend options? - West side Algonquin between ~gravenhurst and loring?
Blake G replied to Sneaks's topic in Main Clubhouse
From today between Gravenhurst, Kearney, Orrville. Trails were very good, other than a few water hazards. Bracebridge. Seguin Trail. Spiccoli's. Orrville. 37. Winhara Rd. D at Etwell. -
Snow Rider, I agree some local trails were pretty beat up over the weekend. Sheer traffic. Now today...a little better.

I believe MLSTA may be currently dealing with a shortage of trained operators. NOTE: There are ways to get from 17 to Bala with minimal use of C101D.
-
I saw the Snowcrest groomer heading west through town, just after dark last night.
-
Maybe a couple of hours each way, depending on your riding style.

From FB: Highland Rovers Snowmobile Club: There is extra parking in Kearney for all you sledders. Head on up to the Kearney legion the ball Diamond is plowed out for the over flow

Earlier discussion on this topic:

Lots of us have parked there many times. I've seen it full some weekends. Not sure about overnighters. If you're doing a day ride on a weekday, you'll be in great shape. What's your plan?
-
You'll need to book more to the north, unfortunately.

I agree, and would further suggest the government has to respond to public outcry (and to properly conducted research) if they want to DO their job.

Thought I should revive this thread. I tried some of the earlier links to see if they still work. Haliburton Forest Base Camp camera now uses a new link: https://www.haliburtonforest.com/live-webcam-basecamp-haliburton-forest/ PS: Denis, would you mind slipping over to the Hearst Municipal Airport to wipe the snow off the lense? Click the three horizontal lines at the top right corner of your screen. When the little window pops out, click the little "word bubbles" icon (like those you'd see in a comic strip). Click the "Compose New" button. Start keying in "Domino" as the "to" person.....etc.... Domino is the master of this site and will set you up with sponsorship details.

GRAVENHURST The former Country Squire Inn is now the Gold Pine Inn Motel and Mr. Moose Restaurant.
-
KILWORTHY : Inn Among The Pines has been sold a few times, twice in the past year. Although it was once a motel, the units were converted into permanent apartment suites a few years ago. It will never be open again as a place to be booked for short term stays.

BRACEBRIDGE: Holiday Inn Resort / Aston Villa has undergone a multimillion dollar transformation over the past ten years or so, and is now known as Touchstone Resort. Here's a link to the website http://www.touchstoneresort.com/

The 7000 is indeed known to have more pep than the 5000. But that alone does not mean it is necessarily a better motor. 02Sled, you likely have ten more horsepower with the 7000 over the 5000, but you are also now in the procross chassis, which is a lot lighter than the twin spar chassis you had before. Plus your 7000 is 8 years newer and perhaps fresher than the engine in your old sled. Are there other differences, aside from the motors? I've read that the 5000 used to have a one inch lug track, as opposed to the 1.25 lug on the 7000.... TheTorches is in a bit of a tough spot, unless he is able to test ride each model to do a proper comparison, to decide if one sled is worth 3000 more than the other.
