  1. They have been uber reliable. Service the clutches at 6000kms and keep the fluids fresh. The chassis will wear out far faster than the motor will.
  2. I have a Yamaha on my pontoon. Its as reliable as a hammer but its slow for the rated hp. . If I could have spec'ed the boat out exactly as I wanted it I would have put a Suzuki on it. I had a Merc on our old toon and it performed well but was noisy and rattled around like a 25 year old motor.
  3. Yamaha is actually the #1 Outboard Manufacturer world wide with approx 40% market share. That being said, Suzuki is the fastest growing company. I know a lot of guys switching to Suzuki and they love them. Maybe Yamaha feels its time to spend some money updating their outboards to keep that #1 spot.
  4. Polaris buying Cat? Not a chance unless it is basically a gift from Textron. What does Cat bring to the table? Other than some dedicated customers, really nothing. I bet that if Cat folded, Polaris would get 75% of the Cat customers for free.
  5. A good friend of mine is a long time Cat Dealer and is very well connected to the inner circles in TRF. He said that 998 and 1049 will be used until MY25 and then Cat/Textron will use Weber Turbo 4 strokes. Weber is already putting the final touches on a sled specific engine to replace the 998 that will fit in a wide body Catalyst. Yamaha imported less than 400 MY24 sleds into Canada last year so they havent been much of a factor the last few years as far as market share is concerned. I bet Yamaha only offers the SRX and maybe the LTX-GT for MY25 in incredibly limited #s.
  6. I really wouldnt be concerned about the payload even if you are close to the published max. Just make sure you have good tires that are properly inflated and your bearings are well serviced. I think the length is your bigger concern.
  7. It will be very very close. If it does fit, you will be taking the windshield off for sure. My Backcountry 146 was pretty tight in an 11 ft Triton clam shell.
  8. I have bought 2 permits lately, and if Ontario went to $230 and Quebec went to $440 ($670 total), that "may" be the tipping point for me to buy both Ontario and Quebec. The crazy part is that I rode less than 80kms in Ontario last season so just buying the Quebec permit may not sound as crazy as one might think??
  9. Its around that much. I never got mine back last year. Called 2-3x and they said that it was claimed but I never got the cheque.
  10. $440 to buy one early this year. Ouch. Has anyone heard what the OFSC is talking about for next season?
  11. I am well aware of that oil can. I really wish they designed it so you could stack a bag on top of it.
  12. I really wanted to like it, but it was noticeably heavier than my 850 and the throttle still sucks albeit less than the old style ITC. We were within 1 litre every fill up with my 850 actually using less than the 900 a few times. The 900R has longer legs on the lake than my 850 for sure. He pulls away pretty easily at 160km/h speeds.
  13. I guess that could work but the gas can holds 12L of fuel. I really only want to carry 4L. I can fit a 4L jug in my Linq Combo Bag but it takes up a lot of room in the bag. I think a lot of guys would buy a 4-6L stackable oil can.
  14. Rode my buddies 900R X for a day this year. Nice sled but not for me.
  15. Getting off topic, but I sure wish that BRP would make a STACKABLE oil caddy that was about 4-6L. I would love to be able to carry a 4L oil can that I could put a bag on top of.
  16. I read somewhere that Polaris Legal Dept wants nothing to do with those gas cans.
  17. It is amazing how fast snow melts once the brown patches start to open up. Considering they were grooming trails there a week ago.
  18. The long range looks like Friday is the last day with below zero temps. Even in Cochrane, its ranging from +7-9c every day from Sat onwards. The trails will close quickly once the creeks start to break up.
  19. Fairly priced for someone. Congrats on the sale!!
  20. Try Brian Kurtz trucking in Breslau. The issue is that you will need somewhere to unload with a dock. That being said, the $1000 rate sounds about right. 5 years ago it would have been $400-500.
  21. I am surprised that sled hasnt sold. Its a bit off the miles but priced accordingly.
  22. This issue is in my desk. I wont throw it out. 😄
  23. No. That was not me. My dad and I had a car dealership called Ross Rocher Sales, that sold a lot of cool stuff. In our hay day I was bringing Bass Boats up from the USA in the summer, selling 100-120 used sleds every fall and then moved onto importing Husqvarna and Gas Gas motorcycles into Canada. It was lots of fun. We sold the property in 2012 to Loblaws to build a No Frills and my dad retired. I am a Realtor now but still dabble in that stuff as a hobby.
  24. Not a chance that I push it through that company. That being said, my sled trailer is owned by my RE Corp as it is available for "customer use". I just started another company and got an HST # for recreational vehicle sales. I buy and sell 8-12 units every year so it is a legit business and I pay income tax on any profit earned. You may or may not know that I was in that business full time for almost 20years. It is now just a hobby that helps pay for my toys.
