  1. The footprints in the snow were huge. I am 100% convinced it was a Cougar / Mountain Lion.
  2. I will start a new thread to keep this one kind of on-track. It was an interesting experience
  3. He always gives me a healthy discount on parts and accessories which helps ease the pain.
  4. I can deal with list in todays market, but extra add-ons drive me mental.
  5. Has anyone got a price from a Polaris dealer on a 23? Is it full list +++? My Doo dealer has offered me a "little" bit of a discount but nothing spectacular.
  6. As crazy as it sounds, I just sold my 22 600XRS. I put 2000kms on it and got all my money back on it. I looked at my calendar and I only had 1 weekend available in March to get away and just said screw it and sold it. Yes. I probably could have sold it for the same amount in the fall but this way I dont have to worry about storing it and I can cancel my insurance this week as well. I can put the cash to work over the summer for me and start over in Dec. And FWIW, I will be ordering a 23 of some brand by the weekend.
  7. That Boost Flat Lander will be the sled to beat this year. 0-100mph it will be unstoppable. The 850 NA is arguably the quickest (not fastest) machine on the snow this year. The turbo will haul azz.
  8. We stayed at Valentine Farms. Their son is a fireman in London and took 6 weeks off this winter to look after the place. He was the one telling me that they are basically out of business with the trail closure and now HH closed. Sounds like the dad is in pretty rough shape. We never saw them at all. That being said, it was a fun spot. $60/person cash. Not fancy but did the trick and our entire group could sit around and watch the hockey game on TV.
  9. The Turbo VR1 and Assault were accidentally leaked on Youtube and pulled down within 10 mins this am. If they keep the 4 year warranty (sounds like they are going with a 3yr though) I will be back on a Polaris next season.
  10. I have seen a lot of Lynx This one had a big LONG tail. It was a cougar for sure.
  11. Well it was just north of HH on the trail to Wawa. It was just standing in the bush staring at me. I wasnt stopping for a photo or anything like that.
  12. Back to the HH topic. I am not sure how common they are up there but I was quite surprised to have a big Cougar (the animal type) jump out in front of me and run into the bush across the trail. I have never seen one in the wild before.
  13. The trailer ride was quick and easy. Sleds stayed remarkably clean. Ken the driver is quite the guy. Friendly fellow. We stayed in Chapleau and the B&B we stayed at said with that section of trail closed, their business is down about 80%. I am sure they are pretty much out of business now that HH has closed.
  14. I just did the full loop and the west side has more than 4kms of road running due to Hydro work going on. 80% of the west side was good but hasn’t seen a groomer in a long time. The east side was pretty good but got pretty bumpy for the last 50kms coming into Cochrane. Probably the worst condition that I have seen that trail before. The biggest issue for me is that gas is now $6/L at the Base Camp. That may have just hit the tipping point for a lot of guys. I didn’t mind spending $40 for 10L last year but $60 to be handed a 2 gallon can is getting crazy. I hate to say it but this was the first time ever that I didn’t buy gas but Instead dumped my Linq can in at one of the warm up shacks. Based on the price of gas and the condition of the trail itself I don’t think I would bother running it again if I came back up in March.
  15. thats actually what I thought originally.
  16. There is more to this story for sure. The staff was all happy and chatting with us on Wed. Making a big dinner that night. Every room was booked. Something changed in less than 24 hours.
  17. I was there yesterday. The D trail to Wawa is absolutely destroyed. 2 ft whoops for 120kms. I am not sure how much time it would take to repair it anyhow? I am sitting in Hearst right now. There are a bunch of Americans trying to figure out how they are getting back to SSM.
  18. In Wawa right now. Tough day from Chapleau. Tons of snow. Getting stuck on the trail and the the trail that went from HH to Wawa was whooped out like an SX track. But we made it. And today was supposed to be our short/easy day. 😭
  19. Snowed a lot in Chapleau. I talked to the guys at HH and he said he has enough gas for us. This was supposed to be our short day but it’s going to be a tough haul to Wawa.
  20. Internet chatter says that Polaris is punching the 850 out to a 900. Their 850 is already the fastest 850 on the market. A 900 should be killer.
  21. I am sitting in Chapleau right now on our way to Wawa. I am trying to get an update from HH.
  22. I think Southern Ontario will be done shortly. It is +4c right now at 11pm and is supposed to be +9c and rain on Tuesday. I am heading north Monday am for a week and have another run to Quebec planned for the 18th of March weekend and then my season will be over. It would be cool to ride around home again, but I am not counting on it.
  23. I just print it off and put in a zip lock bag with my ownership and insurance info. I have never taped it to the windshield.
  24. It is POURING rain in Mitchell right now. I just drove home from Stratford and fields are already opening up. Hopefully we get a bunch of snow tomorrow night. Fingers crossed.
