  1. What years are your trucks though, gas usage has changed a fair amount with the 5.7 in the Ram over the last little while? Another factor to consider is your truck fulltime AWD or have the option of 2WD, 4WD or AWD. Plus a hybrid vs. a full size trailer, even with a v-nose is not really apples to apples. With my hybrid in a Ram 2500 gasser I see 18/19 L/100km in the winter, summer is better of course when I occasionally use it.
  2. Mail & shipping has been all over the map.....sometimes comes in a normal fashion/timeline and other time takes twice as long, so I would wait. For me, I believe I was notified middle to end of the week that it was shipped and received the following week.
  3. Not 100% true, if it can be avoided materials are dropped when the manpower is there to receive & start the work. See this happening more and more the last few years due to theft issues & delivery issues. Also been in an increase in partial deliveries to minimize exposure, no where to store all the materials plus control your costs as most suppliers will have the materials and invoice go out the same day. But of course depending on the situation, this is not always possible. Regardless, sucks all around when this happens, there is no excuse no matter who or what you point the finger at.
  4. I was thinking the same thing, but figured I would keep my thoughts to myself. Granted, no idea how long it was there for, could have been dropped the day before the work was happening or sat there for days allowing the would be thieves to consider their plans. Regardless, stealing is a low life act.....it seems that and illegal dumping are getting out of hand.
  5. If I recall the last time we had a good Polar Vortex, it was too cold to snow, not the ideal situation.....and of course they were in Jan and Feb vs. Dec when they are really needed.
  6. I prefer to pay some of my yearly premiums for various items in lump sum payments & on my credit card, this is one of them.....to date never been an issue, but sounds like this year might be.....
  7. I'll be calling them shortly to pay for my yearly premiums and see what sort of wait I am in for.....do not recall anything odd in the past, but we will see. I am sure there are others ways to pay, but I just call in to pay with my visa each year, always have.....
  8. I will usually park/stage out of the STP club, ride to lake Wannapitei, hit Rocky's and off we go to the North. The trail out of and into Rocky's is always just completely moguled out, thankfully not for too long and then its is good.....just the way it has always been and expect nothing else. Rode once from North Bay years ago, first stop on the trip was Temagami and that entire section was beyond words, we were ready to go back if this was the way the trails were going to be the rest of teh trip, but thankfully they were not.
  9. So lets say you have a son or daughter that is driving but they have their own car and insurance, do you still have to mention them and potentially there bad records will affects your rates, even if they have always had their own policies and ownership, unless you add this 28A that sounds like it basically informs the Ins that under no circumstances will driver A or B listed on the 28A will use your vehicles?
  10. The wheels are a dead give away plus the HD badging on the front fender of the Fords......plus I think the flare around the wheel wells are different on the HD vs non HD Fords.
  11. Yes, he was a great guy to deal with....heard he left ORPS and moved further north, not sure what he is doing now. I saw your pictures of the rink on the other forum, nice size and good to get er done while not too bad out, but doesn't give you much motivation to think or do much of winter stuff when we have this type of weather. Here is hoping we start to slip back into some cold weather, maybe some flurries, frost, etc....before the lake affect kicks in. Keeping the CAT for another year or still on the fence?
  12. That then became a cat dealer called ATC, John soon was no more, not surprised......Rick & Jody kept it going, relocated the dealership down the road and then sadly closed the doors. Nothing good I am sure.....
  13. Ditto, never had any issues with this or the mirrors in QC......the only concerns we have ever seen by locals is getting gas at some stations and they wanted to confirm we had a QC trail pass before they would fill our tanks, which in my eyes is not a bad things at all!
  14. What, did you buy a truck from the US....you sure ain't an old boy that refuses to convert to the metric system..... My 6.4 would be around the same.....19 liters per 100 km on average if you believe what the EVIC says.
  15. I think where 1/2 tone trucks are more affordable is when you see the incentives from the manufacture, that you just do not get with the diesels. That is some very good mileage numbers! Any guys that I know that work on the big diesels seem to always say the same thing, when these trucks are not used often for there intended use, towing heavy and/or longer drives vs in town grocery getting, failures go up a fair amount. Parts just cost more on a HD truck, have yet to buy something for mine that was the same as my old 1/2 tons, but in fairness, everything is going up too..... Resale is a huge plus and a big points winner for sure.....but I hear 1/2 tons right now are selling for crazy amounts.
  16. My 6.4 gasser in the 2500 with the 6-speed does not shift all that well, find my self using the manual selector in certain conditions. Needed a tranny geared more for higher RPM gas engine vs. the low RPM torque monster diesel that they borrowed it from..... Now I hear the 8-speed in the same motor is wayyy better and fixes a lot of it. Same here when I bought it, wanted a diesel but didn't really need one for most days & the potentially very expensive repair bills, so settled with the 6.4. Really love the truck, it has been great as a daily driver and towing my TT or sled trailer.....and anything I put in the back of it. My next truck might be the Ford Ecoboost 3.5, depending if we still have the TT or not.
  17. Permit I046315 arrived in the mail today!
  18. No problem & good to hear....I know a few that bought an HD thinking they needed it, to than not like the extra costs that came with it after the purchase or to dislike the not so plush ride that a 1/2 ton offers now a days & many are accustom too. Not exactly, but I see the info on this has already been posted. Mine was changed when bought by the dealer as well. Never required the Yellow sticker either.....although before the rule change a few years ago the only other thing that I towed that put me close or over the weight limitations was my sled trailer, but never had an issue thankfully. Towing the travel trailer however did put me over of course by a fair amount, but those were exempt from the Yellow sticker rules anyways, as crazy as that was
  19. Are you considering an HD truck to tow your sled trailer that is what just shy of 2,000 lbs plus a couple of sleds that puts you around 3,000 lbs....or do you tow other stuff that has you leaning towards an HD? HD's are nice that have there pro's & con's, but a 1/2 ton is way more than capable of that weight, could add some air bags that really help in the rear if needed.....with a lot less expense. Aside from the HD truck costing more with typically very few incentives from the manufacture, plate sticker is double and most parts are more due to it being an HD.
  20. Received email notification that permit shipped today. One week to process, not bad.
  21. Hmmm....both of you are from SW Ontario region, makes me wonder if Insurance rates are cheaper for that area compared to York region.
  22. I know not directed at me, but my 2013 CAT 800 is 424.00 at TD with full coverage.....vs. your 2015 Cat 4-stroke that is 350.00. I used to have an appraised 86 mustang that TD also insured for me once upon a time.
  23. Almost the exact same for me.....sled and trailers with TD, house and cars with a broker. Works well currently.
  24. Yep, see the link below. $150.00 currently for it. https://www.ofsc.on.ca/permits/
  25. Very promising news.....on the permit sales, and with still time left to buy the early season. I wish nothing but the best to the POO owners......
