  1. Not sure if there were many German settlers in that area or not LOL
  2. Also pics on Faceplant of a 3 sled chain reaction on B106E. Apparently the 1st 2 sleds in a group of 3 had stopped, 3rd rider wasn't paying attention....
  3. I hear you. Live & learn... I should've ask the chap w/ the Lynx yesterday if he minded taking a pic of me on it. That would've gotten people talking LOL
  4. Is this the adapter plate you're speaking of?
  5. So they improved the mounting of the front bumper compared to the XS? I messed up 1 belly pan (plastic started to crack @ rivets) due to lifting it via the bumper.
  6. Thanks! Just above my average (1950 miles over 30 odd seasons). Not stellar, but good riding. I think I was motivated to get out & ride as we didn't know how long trails would be open. I had a few seasons before hooking up w/ the OC crew, that I didn't hit a thousand miles. Just didn't feel like riding. Yes, that is the SR21. Not in the normal position, but I'm using 1 of my adapter kits (for the small gas caddy & medium bag). I'm looking for the medium bag & caddy so if anyone knows of either going up for sale, let me know. For our overnight trip to Hearst last weekend, I had a bit more stuff in the bag than normal. During the off season I plan on going thru the 3 'toilet kits' I have stuff in & winnow it down. Possibly go to the medium bag for daytrips & use the SR21 for longer tours. Normally I don't 'overpack' like this.: Once we got back to Kap, the extras were removed & the lid strap was adjusted to it was tight, like usual. What I had in it yesterday: Had I been on a loop, I would've carried my booster pack in it as well. I bring it in the room like TD said. What do those of you do that carry a gas caddy? I know a couple of seasons ago someone offered a LinQ lock but it disappeared from the market. Opinions were that BRP went after the make on patent infringement. That being said, they haven't offered anything themselves to lock the accessories to the tunnel. EDIT: https://www.whiteouttechnologies.com/home/26-link-lock.html @Arctic JC is this the lock you mentioned? I think it's different than the 1 I was thinking of.

    PARKING

I think enough room to safely open your doors should be sufficient. Since they are backed in, they'd have to pull ahead anyways to load. Probably the same guys that will park their 'vette in a lot over 4 parking spots...

    PARKING

A few rigs parked beside the trail in Gilmour on Sat'. No signage prohibiting parking, so I don't know what the issue was there in the past.
  9. Last ride of the season. Conditions in Hastings were great on the railbed. No snirt or gravel to deal w/. Met a friend & his son south of Bancroft on their way back to Chandos. Chatted w/ a sledder on a RAV LE. Looks sharp on the snow. Put on 175 klicks for 3258 total this winter. Not bad considering the circumstances. Between Ormsby Jct & Gilmour Stopped @ the 961. This is where TOP E used to go east towards Mazinaw. Just north of Millbridge Turned around just west of Eldorado. Probably could've ridden to the Marmora parking lot. Stopped @ Stoney Settlement Rd. Centre Hastings & Old Hastings clubs meet here. Mapboard is just east of Millbridge. 'McDonalds' in the summer you can see the fill of a spur that went towards Jordan Lake to serve the iron mining in that area in the late 19th century. ?? Southbound (on the way bay to Coe Hill by Spring Lake. Sled is nice & clean to finish the season. Caught up to a pair of sleds that had gotten on the railbed @ Rimington Road & then turned off onto St Ola Road. Road running looked awful (bare gravel) so I don't know what they were thinking.
  10. Our tracks: 1058 klicks or 658 miles for the 5 days of riding.
  11. Good to hear that the road running has been eliminated. @irREVerent SJ & I found it 2 winters ago when we were riding up there before our Great Big Loop Trip.

    PARKING

The parking lot in Coe Hill is nothing like the 1 in Bird's Creek. Space is limited. This is what I found yesterday @ noon when I got there. Really? If I had tried to park between the Ford & Toy' I would've been door handle to door handle & likely would've found boot prints on the side of my truck. As it was 3 rigs were parked on the side of the road & I parked in front of the credit union office (not recommended during the week). A bit of thinking would go a long ways...
  13. Yes it is. Just checked the 2020 calendar. Not sure why it was posted here...
  14. @Puggz Met a friend who had ridden up thru Paudash to LSP today. He said the trails were good until they hit E108. They were riding south to get to Chandos. The railbed was great from the 930 intersection south past Eldorado. Trail over to Coe Hill was fine. North of the 930 the trail was quite choppy. Will post pics later.
  15. TOP A just east of SRF yesterday: TOP A & TOP C intersection
  16. In Hearst the Super 8 & Companion are adjacent. Both are close to gas (Shell our choice as you don't have to deal w/ transports in the lot like the Esso. Beer store is between the Super 8 & Esso. Denis said a lot of work has been done to the Villa. It's beside the Husky truck stop @ the west end of town.
  17. First choice would be Westway. I havent heard of any reports on the 'rebranded' Travelodge. The Thriftlodge is getting a bit old. Station Inn can be iffy once the pavement starts getting bare. Someone has stated @ the Chimo this winter. In Kap we didn't notice any sleds @ the other motels. The Advantage is basic and clean. The Apollo used to be our go to place. Good location as it's between Papa Franco's & Chuck's Roadhouse. Be aware in Kap' it didn't appear that any of the restaurants were open for breaky.
  18. Maybe by the community center just north of the gas station. Depending on where you're coming from, there is rig parking @ Tory Hill. Right on Hwy 118 @ its intersection w/ CR 503. If you're coming from the east on 118, there is a staging area where guys will park about half a mile west of Adanac Rd. Direct access to TOP E.
  19. Never noticed yesterday but last Fri' there weren't any rigs @ the No Adventure Inn.
  20. Lots of rigs @ the Westway. A few sleds @ the Chimo. One rig @ the Travelodge beside the truck stop. I didnt notice the Thriftlodge. There were 2 sleds warming up @ Rolly's when I drove by.
  21. Probably a bit late for you guys, but there is more or less no stake line/signage from TOP A to the Super 8. @irREVerent & I ran it on Wed'. He said he was glad I knew where the trail went as he wouldn't have been able to follow it.
  22. Turns out the other couple is @probill & his wife.
  23. BTDT Once on the Fushimi Loop @ the L165 intersection. Get there & sleds are parked all over the place blocking the trail. Just because you're likely in the northernmost place to sled, doesn't mean there won't be other riders out. Took their sweet time to fire up the sleds that were in the way. The other time was south of Dorset heading towards Raven Lake. Again sleds parked every which way... In both cases they acted like the were doing us a huge favour by moving their sleds so we could ride thru. I had a friend that forever would pull up beside my left side & shut off his sled on busy trails. Finally I had enough. I pulled ahead (since I was leading) & told him to park behind me so as to not be on the trail.
  24. I guess the students @ 1 of the residences in Ptbo don't think COVID rules apply to them...
