  1. Not sure about others, but we were watching for the opening of the border every month. Glad ski was able to get back up. The plan is to get up to ride a bunch this season and we love to leave the trailer in Searchmont and run up to Dub so Halfway is usually our first stop unless we go direct to Chapleau. Then the next day is a swing through Halfway. Dub is usually the 2nd stop. Waiting to see how it all comes together including the D108A to get up to the Northern Corridor and if the D trail west gets opened up. All good for long weekend runs. Got my fingers crossed that the weather is great this season.

  2. It's that time of year for those ready for early-season riding. North of Sault Ste. Marie in the mountains will soon see snow. On average, we start riding on about November 14th. We will see how close that pattern holds for this year. Last year, it was October 25th for the 1st ride. The countdown begins. I will again be running the Cross-Country 440's this year, a legendary tradition that I hold for the past few decades. Wishing everyone a safe 2021-22 season. Keep in touch. Dan-Senior Sault Ste. 4. Restaurant roundabout this year, so bear with me lol. DJ's Bar and Grill, at Silversands that opened last winter is no more. The lovely Donna and Jade have walked away from that location, and no one is running that restaurant as of end of October. DJ's are now running the Legion kitchen, replacing Fork on the Trail, owned by the lovely April and her crew. Edgewater is no longer running their Suds on Main location, they have leased the bar and restaurant to April, and she is now calling it Fork On Main. Jake and Joanne are running Pit Stop 518 in the old Kearney Oneills location just west of Fetterleys gas station. Edgewater is currently closed on Mondays and Fetterley gas station is closed on Sundays but that might change by sled time. Both closures are due to staff shortages. Now hours as of end of October are| Pit Stop Friday Saturday Sunday, 4 to 8 only. Fully licensed, lots of seating and parking for sleds. Fork on Main (formerly Suds) 7 days a week, 8 to 8 or 9 on weekends, fully licensed DJ's Legion location Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday 9 to 8 or 9 Edgewater daily except Mondays. You can still grab coffee and snacks at Fetterleys, Rickwards Polaris dealership grocery store and the variety store beside the liquor store. There will also be a vegan from scratch bakery in the building next to Fork on Main (Suds) where Driftwood was last winter. It is still under construction. Dustin closed Driftwood in February. If there are any changes in days open or hours I will put updates just before sled season. As for accomodation, it seems every house sold in Kearney in the past year has been turned into an airbnb, so check the usual social media sales pages for info on new places to stay in Kearney.

  5. the front two dollies will be ok but, you will hate that rear single wheel. need a 2nd person to hold it level, while you lift the rear and place it on there, trying not to crush the other persons fingers, hands, and not destroy your back or shoulders, in the process. too much effort for my liking the ones with 3-4 level casters are "easier" for one person. just lift the sled, and slide the track over the platform. your results may vary. 6. Tree huggers like to hug trees. Not sure they pay much to do it though. I think I'd pick a snowmobilier over a eco tourist for revenue generation if it were my business.
