Anything but meth unless you have a 4 stroke. Getting hard to find iso based stuff. 

We have been adding IPA to fuel for sleds for years..makes a difference for sure. I use it regularly throughout the season. 

I add isopropyl antifreeze to every tank of gas when I return home. Allow water to pass thru engine without harm 

For some of you this may be totally redundant. For others curious about ethanol? Keep reading   Ethanol is alcohol. If you ever go to the drag races the top class of Dragsters and funny cars is called top fuel. Top fuel class is either nitro methane or alcohol ( typically methanol but its very close to ethanol ) Ethanol has about 100 octane rating but octane is a misleading term when it comes to fuels. Ethanol has a super power over gasoline because ethanol creates latent heat evaporation. Latent heat evaporation means when vaporized like a fuel injector does or a carb does ethanol cools the air which increases air density substantially ( works like an air conditioning system does ) and this allows you to squeeze alcohol fuels way more than any gasoline regardless of octane because gasoline heats up during vaporization, the exact opposite effect. A strong pump gas motor your really asking for trouble if you increase compression much beyond 10.5:1 maybe 11:1 but thats about it. A motor built to run on straight ethanol can run as high as 14.5:1 compression. To give you an idea of gains roughly 5% horse power increase for every 1 point of compression increase so the gains are substantial. These gains are compounded further when boosting a motor where air temperatures are the ultimate enemy using an alcohol based fuel with its latent heat evaporation the boost can be cranked to the moon. Almost all the street outlaw guys run alcohol for this reason. Most good boost builds are running some sort of alcohol system either entirely or as a secondary fuel. I could go on but thats the basic scoop of it and I wont bother discussing nitro just know it cant really be contained and just burns motors down every time its run so thats for extreme racing only imo.     Sounds great right? Downsides of ethanol is tow fold. Both are terrible. The first and worst is alcohol absorbs water so this swells the fuel and radically alters its combustability and cause corrosion and all sorts of other contact issues. Certain rubbers hate alcohol it dries them out and causes them to fail and on and on. If an engine wasnt built for alcohol even small amounts can cause issues so watch out for them. The second issue with alcohol is its specific gravity is considerably less than gasoline. That means in order for an engine to run properly the air/fuel ratio ( lambda ) has to be dialed in and this is especially crucial to two strokes because too lean means kaboom! So tuning an engine for gasoline with varying amounts of alcohol blended is risky as heck. Same goes for boost if the lambda isnt dialed in? Kaboom.     All that aside newer sleds are built to handle ethanol up to 10% i believe and the main issue of physical damage is covered with alcohol safe pumps, hoses, and injectors is covered so that leaves the tuning as the only real risk. Considering sleds can really benefit from fuel not freezing up having some ethanol in fuel isnt a bad thing if your machine is equipped to run it especially. If you store a sled with a half tank or less thats a problem because of the water absorption problem which will happen dues to condensation in the tank due to temperature changes so dont think your sled is safe because its in a warm garage and the tank is sealed tight it doesnt matter condensation will form in the tank if its not kept full so keep it full is best after a ride fill it up. I could probably babble on about this for another thousand paragraphs so if I missed something just add it in below. Hope that helps some of you understand ethanol a little better   Boats on the other hand? Ethanol is really best avoided altogether if possible. If not run through the gas fast dont dock it for a week with a half filled tank of ethanol laced fuel. Bad scene

I will take the 45mm of rain right now over the 45mm of freezing rain we are supposed to get. It just started now. Our season could be over before it even begins. We already have put in over 1500 man hours cleaning up the March Ice Storm and we are only about 70% done.
