Snow in Orillia

Lake Couchiching was staked Friday. Not yet listed as open and won't be until we can get some open trails leading to it. 10 to 12" of ice out there. (Use at own risk) There is a very large pressure crack that has formed off of Big Chief Island heading towards town......right across the trail. I went to check it out today and it is big!! Roughly 18" to 24" high. Use extreme caution if anyone is to venture out there. Our president was out today to put up some 'slow' signs to try and help anyone from getting hurt.

Yep took a look at it yesterday.Very sharp ridge particularly from north to south. The rain may help it depressurize a bit but it will be a lot less visible too.Be careful out there especially in low light conditions.

Trails are finally looking good around the Orillia area!! I along with the other groomer operators have been going hard all week getting trails into shape. We received close to 20cm over the past few days! Everything on the west side of Orillia is opened as limited. Still the odd wet spot or swamp hole we are avoiding but passable by sled. Get out while you can as next week looks mild.
