SlowTouringGuy
Posted last night: We still have some snow here but lots of water too we are expecting 10-15cm of snow tonite and into the am.Not alot of grooming was happening around here even before the warm up mainly just local trails were being done. The A103 trail to the canyon hasn't been groomed as of last week but i would expect with the cold temps and snow coming it won'be long until the trails are back in tip top shape.Hopefully things will change by the weekend and will try to find out more info from the club.If anyone has any questions give me a call.Rod

lillabellelodge
Just got back from helping the Polar Bear Riders with some brushing flooding etc.We have at least a foot of new snow since the melt down other than having to be groomed the trails are in good shape. We were on the A trail to the Fredrickhouse River where we flooded. There is about 20 inches of ice but at the edge on both sides there is about 4-5 feet of watery slush and broken ice.The guys figured that a dam was opened up because of the mild spell.Went down the A106C almost to the C trail junction other than the river crossing again everything was in good shape. The A103 is not open yet but soon will be the engine went out of the groomer half way up there. The a 105Q isn't opened yet either as there are some water crossing problems that will be worked on next week.Groomers wil be out most of the weekend . Ox
I missed out on the Moosonee trip we had planned back in '96 as the river wasn't frozen good enough yet when we were there, but I have seen it from the train and thought I was seein' things! 100's of klicks of FLAT and then there was this huge hole in the ground! I don't think I saw it 'till we were aboot past it - so I didn't git a REAL good looky at it - but I just had to assume it was man made - some open pit mine. Especially being right next to the rail line. But from what I understand - it is natural eh? So how many folks are running up there on the average weekend these days now? Is this something that goes for some distance? Or is it just one big hole? I would like to git there aggin one day, but I think we will be hitting the Missinabii this yr instead.
